I sometimes think of myself as an odd amalgamation of opposites- I like attention but can be bashful when I get it. I need routine but easily feel stifled by it. I enjoy good company but consider myself a loner. I love being in control but sometimes crave surrender.
In short (not really), I tend to think of myself as an overly optimistic, mature, immature, artistic intellectual (I hope) with an odd sense of humor. I believe that in order to really live life, you have to go out of your comfort zone and take risks. It doesn't always work out, but so what, right?
A few facts about me:
-My biggest turn-ons are confidence, intelligence, emotional maturity, and a sunny disposition; by "sunny disposition" I don't necessarily mean a happy hippie. Is it possible to love Sylvia Plath and still love life? I think so!
-As my username suggests, I was a philosophy major as an undergrad- most useful degree ever!
-I once successfully called into "The Diane Rehm Show." I was subsequently humiliated by their panel of Harvard "experts."
-I was extremely lucky to have the childhood I did. Exhibit 1: My family owned an island on the Panama Canal and we used to fish from our dock while watching the ships go by. At night we would sleep in hammocks covered by our bohio during monstrous downpours.
-I'm not a huge driving fan and take public transportation whenever possible; interesting things happen on the subway and bus, though...
-I'm the type of person that goes through phases. Examples of past phases include: yoga, rock climbing, spelunking, crochet, volleyball, pottery, calligraphy, and making my own sushi (which was actually fun, because it would take me to these obscure asian fish markets where some pretty weird things were for sale)
-I'm comfortable with uncomfortable silences
-I'd like to ride the Trans-Siberian railroad one day.
-I talk in my sleep
-I do have some regrets.
-I always have at least three books checked out from the library
-Like my mom, I'm thin-blooded and can't stand the cold; this gives me the sartorial freedom to start layering earlier than most.
- Animals love me. Cats are my favorite; I had to leave mine behind with my parents when I moved here a year ago, and I still miss her.
-I love politics and fixing things. I read politico every day.
-I own an old school Nintendo (with the gun) and know a secret about it that you probably don't
-Definitely nothing wrong with a little cushion for the pushin!
-I'm a sucker for nail polish, especially dark or outrageously colored nail polish
-I consider myself to be emotionally literate and willing to take risks
