My self-summary
I'm a passionate, curious, and highly motivated person with many goals, ambitions, thoughts, and ideas. Trying new things is important to me, and you can always count on me to find something to do when everybody else is bored.

I have tons of animals--cats, a rabbit, guinea pigs, a gecko, a fish, and I'd love to get more when I have a bigger apartment. I'm a major animal person. Having a dog would be absolutely lovely, but not something I'm able to do until I have a yard with a fence.

I love adventure. I'm a good mix of spontaneous and cautious. Life is very short, and we get only one (at least, that's what I think), so I plan to fill mine with as much as I can. I'm always up for road trips, traveling, camping, trying new art forms, and doing things simply for the experience.

For hobbies, I game (right now, I'm playing a lot of Unturned), cook, garden, read, write, draw, and invent.

If you write to me, I'll do my best to write back and at least say hi. :)
What I’m doing with my life
Developing my own trading card game! I'm hoping to have it on the shelves by December.
I’m really good at
Coming up with stuff to do, making things interesting, finding things to talk about, and making the best out of a bad situation.
The first things people usually notice about me
The first impression people get of me is very rarely correct. There's a lot more to me than whatever's going on at the surface. I like to think I'm good at surprising people.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Anything with a bittersweet or sad ending. I don't like happy endings.

Movies: I love horror movies, especially zombie movies and anything about the apocalypse. Monster movies are great, too. My favorite movie, however, is Jesus Christ Superstar. I also love Hair.

Shows: Misfits is my favorite show of all time. Seasons 1-3 rock my world. We shall not discuss seasons 4 and 5.

Firefly and Dollhouse are my second and third favorites. I also enjoy Community, True Blood, Shameless, Game of Thrones, etc. The Guild (web miniseries) is fantastic. I honestly believe that the last season of Arrested Development completely ruined the first three. I may be snobby about this. I'm sorry.

Music: Right now, I'm really into The Bravery, Circlesquare, Foster the People, OneRepublic, Death in Vegas, M83, the White Stripes, Klaxons, Florence + the Machine, David Bowie, Awolnation, Asteroids Galaxy Tour, Arctic Monkeys, Just A Band, Louis XIV, Black Keys, and Ladytron. My favorite song of all time hasn't changed in years--"Glycerine" by Bush. There's something about that song that always gets me.

Food: I love trying new things. I'm always up for trying something new and going to different places.
The six things I could never do without
I never liked this question because there are really only two ways to answer it. Super literal, and you're no fun. Ridiculously twee, and you're, uh, ridiculously twee. So let's put it this way: six things that I could possibly do without but that greatly enrich my life--bubble baths, incense, fresh notebooks, my telescope, ice cubes, and good books.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Books, stories, things I'd like to create, projects I want to work on, etc.
On a typical Friday night I am
Staying home, honestly. I like to go out and do things, but lately I've just really enjoyed listening to music and drawing at home on Friday nights.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have really bad insomnia.

There are a few things that are very important to me. I think that these are “core” things that nobody should be without—so while everything else is negotiable, these aren’t!

1. Tolerance and/or respect for different ethnicities, genders, orientations, religions, beliefs, practices, etc. I’m an angsty socialist/feminist/atheist and my best friend is a bible-thumping, McCain-votin’ preacher’s daughter. We get along because we both respect each other’s beliefs and try to understand each other instead of judging.

2. Long-term goals and the ability to work on achieving them. I have wanderlust in spades, and I want to go everywhere and do everything!

3. You have to know who you are, and you have to be your own person. You need your own goals; you need your own hobbies/interests. You need to be yourself, not someone that anybody else thinks you should be.

4. This used to be “having some kind of redeeming quality.” Frankly, though, that isn’t quite enough. It’s important to me that whoever I’m in a relationship with needs to be a good person—you can still laugh when a child’s ice cream falls off the cone and onto the floor (I do, admittedly), but life is short and there are a lot of icky people out there, and I feel like not being one of them isn’t enough—so have a LOT of redeeming qualities; be the kind of guy who gives up his seat for an elderly person, who doesn’t stiff people on tips, who thinks about people other than himself. Be a good person!
