I am nerdy, reserved, and honest.

My Self-Summary

I'm fairly introverted, but I can be outgoing as well when I feel comfortable. I'm a nerd. When I'm not working I'm generally here at my computer.

Politically, I'm fairly center, though I lean right more often than left. I consider myself to be more open-minded than average, which is why I get annoyed at people who encourage polarized politics in either direction.

I have no religion. I neither believe nor disbelieve many of the ones I have been exposed to. I was raised Christian and no argument could sway me, though in time my life experiences did. I hold no grudge, and generally support people believing whatever makes them happier or a better person.

I answer irrelevant to a *lot* of questions here because I am friends with plenty of people who have different opinions than me; as long as they have good reasons for theirs, and don't mind me holding my own, it's all good.

I'm very straightforward. I don't beat around the bush when I have something serious to communicate, and it confuses me when other people do. I just don't think that way. If you ask me a question I will very likely tell you the truth. I've pissed off a fair share of people that way, but I'm generally not going to make stuff up because I think it's what they want to hear. I quite firmly believe that better communication could improve essentially every aspect of human endeavor.
This way of thinking evidently makes me somewhat poor at analyzing literature (or other media. When done well the effect is the same), as they tend to say something other than what they mean and expect you to figure the real message out. I do enjoy discussing such things, but the other party must be able to carry a decent portion of the discussion or it will die fairly quickly.

Let's see... I'm a roleplayer. I do P&P (preferred) and used to do MMO, but haven't found a good environment recently.

I am a patient person. If I am fairly confident that letting events play out is likely to bring about the end I desire, I can be willing to wait for a *long* time. Let it be noted, however, that biding one's time is very different from wasting one's time.

I am an INTJ, for those of you who put stock such things. I insist that I'm not evil, though my friends point to this as the final nail in the coffin of my denial that such is the case.

I finally cut my hair again. I had it down a bit below my shoulders (ponytailed. I think I pulled the look off pretty well, though I have no good pictures of it), but now it's gone. If I expect to become a normal part of the workforce I must bow to social norms.

After years of practice, I have finally mastered the art of getting lost. I can do it without even thinking about it anymore. Nice, huh? Seriously, though, I can get most places if I have directions, but when I'm not quite certain which way to go, I almost universally choose the wrong direction.

And, finally, I'd like to mention my pet preferences in slightly more detail. With dogs, it's not that I can't stand being around them so much as that I don't prefer to do so for extended periods of time. They smell weird and they're all over the place (too much energy). I am allergic to cats but like them all the same, because they're relaxed, and still don't mind attention (usually). Smaller mammals depend. All are cute, but their social habits vary widely, so making a broad generalization doesn't work out too well. I hope to one day own another rat that will sit on my shoulder for hours.

What I’m doing with my life

In the short term (0 - 5 years):
9/23/09 update: I just got a job doing systems support for a banking software company, so I will probably spend the next couple years building a place there.

When I'm not at work I'm usually playing computer games or watching anime. I also play a little Warhammer 40k, though only casually as I don't like painting much.

I’m really good at

Not much. Or maybe a whole lot of things. I love exploring ideas through friendly discussion/debate. I'm okay with computers too (one would hope so, since I work in the IT field).
I suspect/hope that I may one day become a good cook, as I do pretty well with the few things I make right now.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Lord of the Rings and everything else by Tolkein (that's right, I read the Silmarillian. four times.), Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (and the rest of the series), The Dune series, and everything else by Frank Herbert. The Ender's Game series, and a lot of Orson Scott Card's novels. (The Worthing Saga, Enchantment, Homebody, etc.)

Movies: Star Wars, Back to the Future, and stuff like that. Pirates of the Caribbean was a lot of fun. Serenity is awesome. Cowboy Bebop, FMA, and Death Note are all great, if you're into anime, which I am. As long as television shows are fair game, I'd like to add Doctor Who (I've only seen the new seasons, but it's great); and Heroes isn't too bad.

Music: Symphonic Metal is the best genre of music ever to grace humanity. Therion, Nightwish, Within Temptation, and the like are great. Rock (Not to be mistaken for "classic rock" ) is fun too: Trapt, Hinder, Metallica, Crossfade, Staind, Disturbed, Breaking Benjamin, Saliva, Papa Roach, etc. (If, by chance, you are frightened by any of that, I promise that I don't bite. I enjoy somewhat hard music, but don't really fit the stereotype) I also enjoy movie/tv soundtracks, musical scores, anime and video game "soundtracks" There's probably some that I'm missing too.

Food: Fried shrimp. I live a couple thousand miles from the nearest coast, so they're a rare treat. Chocolate, (anything with) cheese, (such as) pizza, and Pepsi and Mountain Dew (yeah, I'm a caffeine addict. There are worse things one could be).

The six things I could never do without

my friends, my eyesight, my computer (and internet access), good music, caffeine, and humor

I spend a lot of time thinking about

What needs to be done next. And what's for dinner (not steak. we're waaaay too cheap around here for that)

On a typical Friday night I am

With my roleplaying group.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I've never dated. I would attribute that fact to my tendency to come off as a little bit cold in public, and because my interests somewhat different from the norm.

You should message me if

...you feel like it, and more preferably if you can relate to some of what I've said (I'm quite willing to chat if I'm not busy and if you don't speak like an idiot).

I don't take woos because they don't say anything worth listening to. If you want to talk, talk. I'm interested in *your* words, not some automated message.

And, because it's been a while since I have done it, brownie points for identifying the quote:
"Know that there is nothing in all the worlds that can stand against Unity. When all know a single purpose, when all hands are guided by one will, and all act with the same intent, the Planes themselves may be moved."

Hint: Think in circles.
