My self-summary
I have a mischievious twinkle in my eye and a good heart. I love photography, writing, style, fashion, healthy food, and dancing.
What I’m doing with my life
I am a landlord, which gives me time to work on creative projects and also supports me financially. During my undergraduate years I studied history and documentary film and video production. In graduate school I focused on history. I have had the pleasure of working in the public history field, and I am preparing to publish my history thesis as a book on Amazon's Kindle. As a side venture, a friend and I are exploring starting a men's style consulting business.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: science fiction, history, non-fiction, literature classics, modern fiction, humor, fashion, design, architecture, art, and photography.

Movies: I would like to see less violence on screen, and more sensuality, plot, and character development. In movies (and television) I will watch almost anything that has a spy, heist, or science fiction element. I love classic Hollywood movies, screwball and romantic comedies of all eras, movies based on Jane Austen novels, foreign films, and swashbuckling action films. I'm a fan of Silent Movie Mondays at the Paramount Theater.

Music is my drug and I abuse it regularly. When dancing swing, I prefer the solid beats from the Big Band era, crooners and sultry songbirds from the 1950s, rockabilly, a little bit of country, rhythm & blues, and rock ‘n’ roll from the 1950s. For salsa and cha-cha, my blood pumps when I hear boogaloo (a 1960s/70s fusion of Latin Jazz and Soul), and Cuban and Puerto Rican music. I'm just starting to get into and appreciate listening and dancing to tango music. If I’m driving around western Washington in the summer, then a classic rock mix hits the spot. For a beach party, I like solid surf rock songs seasoned with tunes from other genres that have a “beach” feel. I also like early classical, early folk music, chanting monks, light Italian opera, classical and modern classical works, backcountry acoustic blues, hip hop and R&B, light dubstep, dancehall reggae, punk, and pop rock. I could go on...

Food: I love Thai, Vietnamese, Mexican, Ethiopian, Indian, Chinese, and Japanese food. Araya's, Chaco Canyon, Carmelita, and Pizza Pi, are some of my favorite local vegetarian restaurants. In the kitchen, I like to work while music is playing and dance around while mastering new vegan cooking and baking recipes. I just made a chocolate hazelnut cream pie with chocolate graham cracker crust (all vegan, but definitely not healthy). Except for occasional treats like vegan cream pie, I eat a healthy diet. I have been vegetarian since 1993, and vegan since 1998.
On a typical Friday night I am
with my friends. We stay pretty active with dancing, hiking, camping, throwing theme parties, and attending concerts and movies. In the warmer months, we like to stay outdoors as much as possible, with the symphony and Shakespeare in the park, SAM remixes, KEXP Concerts at the Mural, outdoor movies, art walks, and the occasional Mariners' baseball game. There is also salsa on Alki Beach, outdoor dances in Seattle Parks, and tubing down the Wenatchee River. In October we aim to go to a haunted corn maze and a haunted forest before the Halloween party season begins. The colder months are a good time for dances, burlesque shows, and some opera. Whatever season it is, there is always something fun on the calendar. The next event I am excited about is recording a who-dunit radio drama I wrote about a 1930s private detective.

You should message me if
you would like to say "hello." I am here on OkCupid because I have heard that one-third of all new relationships begin online, and I would like this profile to increase my chances of meeting someone special that I can connect with, by introducing me to people beyond my immediate social circle.
