To a great extent, I am driven by curiosity and a desire to explore. This has resulted in enjoying a very wide variety of experiences. I'll try my best to provide relevant answers for each of these categories.

Books: I think that the most influential authors in my life are Julio Cortázar, Jorge Luis Borges, Umberto Eco, Virginia Woolf, Kurt Vonnegut, Alejandra Pizarnik, Edward O. Wilson, Jared Diamond, Marguerite Duras and Kobayashi Issa.

Movies: I value movies for quality and entertainment capacity. I do not adhere to any genre, style or period. I just ask that the movie be worthwhile. In my childhood, Ray Harrihausen propelled a love for fantasy and adventure that has stayed with me through the years. There is a special place in my heart for Stanley Kubrick because he was the first brainy filmmaker whose work I came to know. A few favorites include: The Colors Trilogy, Kung Fu Hustle, the movies of Kurosawa, Jim Jarmusch, Jon Cassavetes, several superhero movies and cult classics such as Conan the Destroyer and Reservoir Dogs.

Music: My guilty pleasure is spending more time than I care to admit listening to Symphony X and Helloween. There are several South American singer songwriters who can make me cry. I love Fado, Tango and The Blues. My greatest love in music goes to contemporary minimalist composers, various styles of jazz, Andrés Calamaro, Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen. (Footnote: Back in the day, I was a big fan of the Seattle rock scene, and there will always be a sweet nostalgia associated with Pearl Jam and Soundgarden).

Shows: Seinfeld, Samurai Champloo, Firefly, Game of Thrones, Attack on Titan, anything by Chuck Jones.

Food: I am always eager to learn how to make or enjoy great food. I am a decent baker and good cook. I love spices and well crafted beer.
