My self-summary
I can be both serious and lighthearted. I am very analytical and like to get into deep conversations. However, I also like talking about silly things. I like to laugh and I can be very boisterous and loud! That being said I have my quiet moments and enjoy listening to others.

I like to think that I am dependable, in that people can count on me when they are most in need; that I am generous, in a monetary way, but also in more abstract ways; and that I am sensitive, in that I care about how my actions and words effect other people.

I love being outdoors. Last fall I went to Quetico park in Northwestern Ontario. It was one of the most beautiful and unforgettable experiences.

Non-human animals are also very important to me. That being said I am an ethical vegan. Don't worry if you are not, I will only yell at you after I get to know you - haha.

I am an environmentalist and a socialist and proud of it. Although lately, I see myself moving more towards anarchism.

Also, my last partner was an amazing feminist. I feel like feminism, although important to me, was something I didn't think that much about, until meeting her. I feel like she introduced me to so many concepts and new ways of thinking of sexism/gender, and so on. I don't exactly see myself as a feminist, as I am not sure that males should appropriate the word, but I do see myself as a fellow traveler.
What I’m doing with my life
I've assentially finished my degree in Environmental Studies, and beginning to think about what other type of education I would like to purse. I've thought about masters, but as of late, have been thinking about something more practical. Maybe a trade, like carpentry.

I was also a research assistant working on a 2 year project with a local community organization, dealing with the topic of community gardening in the urban setting.

My long term dream is to build a straw bale house (this is much different than what someone might think it is - look it up); go off grid; grow most of my own food; and have an animal sanctuary.

I also love to travel. I have spent some time working on organic farms in France, which was lots of fun. I also had the chance to visit a number of countries in Europe. I've seen much of Canada and the US as well. Just this winter I spent four months hiking, camping, and couch surfing along the west coast of Canada and the US. Recently I have been thinking about how much I would love to go on a bike trip.

I did it! I just spent 4months on the road, enjoying the West Coast! It was a great adventure.

Currently, my main project in life, is the restaurant I co-own. I work at Mondragon Bookstore and Coffeehouse, which is a worker owned and operated establishment in the Exchange District. It is really an amazing place!

I like to think I am really good at cooking, and baking.

I also think that I am a pretty good listener.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
There are so many.

Fiction: There really are a lot but the most memorable are 1984, Oryx and Crake, Handmaid's Tale, The Year Of The Flood (Margaret Atwood is a brilliant person), A Fine Balance, Grapes of Wrath, Crime and Punishment.

Non-fiction: I will say that I am a big fan of Naomi Klein, Noam Chomsky, Peter Singer, David Suzuki and Jane Jacobs.

Movies: Man on Wire. That is the first one that came to mind, but there are many others.

After some thought, these movies also came to mind: Pans Labyrinth, Everything Is Illuminated, Amelie, Once, The Lives of Others, In The Loop, The Corporation.

I just watched Inside Job, which was one of the most riveting documentaries I have seen since The Corporation.

Music: Music is really important to me. I am open to anything as long as it is not really conservative or mass-produced gruel... ...To be more specific: Leonard Cohen, Van Morrison, Pink Floyd, Arcade Fire, The National, Bruce Springsteen, Sarah Harmer, Neko Case, Levon Helm, Katie Melua, Great Lake Swimmers, Gogol Bordello and on and on...

Being a vegan I have grown to love ethnic food. I really love Delicious Vegetarian Restaurant. It is embarrassing how much I go there. I recommend it to all. Most non-vegan/vegetarians who have accompanied me to DVR over the past few years have fallen in love with the food...
The six things I could never do without
Love

Biking

The earth!

Why?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to fix Winnipeg.

There are so many things I enjoy thinking about deeply. I am a very analytical person.

Environmental and social issues are also really important. I spend a lot of time thinking about how we/I can make things better.

One thing I really enjoy doing is laying down outside and really contemplating the earth and its awesomeness. I find that when I do this, that it really connects me to the planet and I really makes me think about how stupendously amazing it is that I exist (and that I am aware that I exist). Not to mention how amazing our planet is. It is really something worth doing. Every time I do, I get a new experience out of it. It is really hard to explain.
On a typical Friday night I am
Watching a Movie, Playing board games, Sitting on the dock by the river (also swimming in The Red), hosting dinner parties, drinking a beer at cousins.

Lately I have been thinking that I want to have a more adventurous night life. I see dancing in my future. And more carefree fun!

You should message me if
Really, if you find anything that I have said interesting please write.

These are some preferences that I have:

Like being outdoors.
Care to have deep conversations.
Think about environmental and social issues.
Like to be serious, but also know how to have a good laugh.
You are warm, friendly and open.
You think we should banish cars from the roads, or atleast think that cycling is a great way to get around.

These are just from the top of my head. If you are reading this and don't fall into any of these categories that doesn't mean you shouldn't write. I am a very open minded person, who gets a long with people from all walks of life. I enjoy being challenged by others and like to meet people with different and diverging perspectives from my own.
