Favorite Book: The Diamond Age. A fantastically written - at times
tragic, at times triumphant - science fiction novel with an
empowered yet real heroine.
Favorite Movie: A close call between Princess Mononoke and Pulp
Fiction. I enjoy the narrative of both stories, and they both touch
on thematic points of forgiveness and redemption that are close to
Favorite Music: I like a variety of music, and I'm not just saying
that. I couldn't recall the name of a band if you asked - I've
never really cared about who makes the music, which is probably
terrible of me - but I love music of all varieties: bebop,
bluegrass, big band, rock, rap, ska, dubstep, anything. If it has
either a lyrical or tonal quality, I'll probably appreciate it. But
I won't remember who it was that made the music, nor likely even
the name of the song itself.
Other things I like:
I enjoy a wide variety of card, board, video and pen-and-paper
games. I'm what you might call a game geek.
I also enjoy giving my time and effort to charitable causes. For
the last few years, I've been helping to run a group called the
"Cookie Brigade": we give cookies to people at the Penny Arcade
Expo, and accept donations to a fantastic charity called Child's
Play. (Bonus points to you if you know what the Penny Arcade Expo
or Child's Play is... or the Cookie Brigade!) We have a good time,
raise a lot of money for a great cause, and I unabashedly dress
like a complete nutcase to serve our worthy goal!
