My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
looking for local friends with shared interests, and persons or people to watch movies, cook dinner, play boardgames, and even have some kind of sexual relations with, all within the bounds of my existing relationship (my fiance of 3.5~ years hypatia_huxley, who has a much more prolific and interesting profile than me).

taking that into account, it’s plausible that we’d all be better served if this profile was just a lengthy, persuasive account of my hot body. I think, though, that we like to have a reasonable belief that the people that we’re jumping into bed or having any other kind of relationship with are good folk, and I suppose it goes the same the other way. thus, a profile.

we do not want to fool around with completely random people, and we also do not want to open our relationship up to more poly-esque significant emotional relationships with other people. more like: we are good buddies and want to do fun things with people we both like. call it a kind of collective friends with benefits policy, though we like having normal friends too!

me: beyond a mere news junkie (news fiend?), and primary areas of nerdery are political and sports; more libertarian than naught; have worked primarily at libraries and as a Teaching Assistant, though just hired by a marketing company; also interested in philosophy, history, science, and skepticism; follow and appreciate a great variety of TV shows as well as a range of computer games (sports, RPGs, strategy); figuring out how to make below-to-above-average food (can always rely on slow-cooked meat and simple curries); have lived in AB, BC, NS, and ON; want a zillion adorable kitties as pets (and volunteer as a cat socializer at the local humane shelter); and will follow the Calgary Flames - tragically, anti-climactically, and tribally - to the gates of sports hell.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Close to finishing my Masters in Political Science, specializing in International Relations and Theory at Brock University - so if anybody ever has a burning urge to talk about governmentality, social contracts, and anarchical international systems, I'm useful enough. hopes of entering a PHD program and eventually becoming a professor of some type. Because academic employment is the closest you can come to reading books and arguing about things for a living while passing off as some kind of dashing public intellectual.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
- obnoxious amounts of caffeine

- intercollegiate parliamentary debating, which is apparently the drug I just can't quit even as I get up there in academia, and which has been the root of most of my social life (It's got me to Montreal several times, Vermont, and Cape Breton? so that's something)

- a well-stocked fridge and pantry for midnight supper. See: item #1

- a hand-me-down iPod that's helping me work through the 2600~ or so podcasts sitting on my laptop

- all of the facial hair
