My self-summary
In my 30 years of life, I've: pulled a nail out of a stranger's skull with my teeth, visited the gravestone of a devil child in Iceland, sang "Dream a Little Dream of Me" while sitting on the lap of a transvestite at a Chinese restaurant in NYC, licked the Blarney Stone in Ireland, went hiking down into grand canyons and up rocky mountains, swam with more than 720,000 single-celled bioluminescent dinoflagellates in Puerto Rico, asked prostitutes for directions to our hostel in Costa Rica, went underground in Seattle, paraded around in a pink gorilla outfit for a friend's pre-wedding festivities, danced half-naked around a bonfire at a pagan festival in NY, braved white water in northern Thailand, viewed sharks from a steel cage in Hawaii, and much more.

For me, life is about the moments ... the experiences. So rather than tell you about my self-perceived attributes, I decided to share some of my greatest moments.
What I’m doing with my life
I've spent the last 8 years working as a registered nurse. I started a new position in a new setting 3 months ago and will be cross-training to work in interventional radiology in June. Considering studying for further certification such as CCRN or CMC. Goals. I gots them!
I’m really good at
- not understanding dry humor ... or dead pan sarcasm ... or self-deprecating humor. (No, for reals.)
- winning costume contests.
The first things people usually notice about me
Depends on where you meet me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books recently read/loved: The Geography of Bliss, anything by Malcolm Gladwell, Paulo Coehlo, Atul Gawande, or Neil Gaiman, The Game of Thrones series (currently on book 4), The Cloud Atlas, The Night Circus.

Movies recently watched/loved: Warm Bodies, Craigslist Joe (taught me how to use CL in ways I never considered), Cloud Atlas, The Hobbit, Lincoln, Moonrise Kingdom, The Great Happiness Space, Make Believe, Waiting for Superman and The Lottery, Happy, Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog, Mary & Max, Into the Wild, Harold and Maude, Mallrats, Exit Through the Gift Shop, Up, Labyrinth, Baraka, The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
I stick to documentaries mostly. I love learning! :)

Music : I mostly listen to Pandora these days. I have radio stations for oldies (Elvis Presley radio), indie, disco, dub step, dance and reggae that I toggle between. Since I have been contra dancing for a year now I also love Elixir and Perpetual e-Motion. Other favorites: Neil Young, Lindsey Stirling, The Tragically Hip, Bob Marley, Bjork, AUTO-TUNE THE NEWS by Schmoyoho. :D
The six things I could never do without
Your mom.

Your second cousin on your dad's side (twice removed).

Your great aunt.

Your elderly next-door neighbor.

Your family pet.

And you?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Happiness - the lack of, the pursuit of and how I can be happier. Nature. "In the woods is perpetual youth." - Ralph Waldo Emerson. My role models. Conflict and how to solve it. NPR. Social networks and lack of community/rise of individualism. Buddhism. Technology and its impact on society. Love. Eco-warriors: are they mentally unstable or admirable? Botany. Where to go hiking/travel to next. TED talks. Man versus machine and the innate flaws of being human. How to open a closed heart without surgical intervention. Advanced directives and how to die with dignity in this country, or at least in Oregon. Bioethics. Are there any men out there who DON'T want kids? How to put more awesome in the world. On a typical Friday night I am
usually a combination of the following: at a burlesque show, at a contra dance, playing board games or Magic, with friends, catching up on sleep, or working.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I know how to play Magic: The Gathering and play often.

But the most private thing I am willing to admit is ... I ... *sigh* ... I LARP'ed. But ONLY ONCE! Ok. Twice. But I did it to fit in! It was that awkward freshmen year of college peer pressure thing. They told me everyone was doing it.
I’m looking for
  • Everybody
  • Ages 24–38
  • Near me
  • For new friends, activity partners
You should message me if
