I am a Sociology PhD student who enjoys doing serious work but also likes to be silly every now and then.

I was born and raised in New York City. I went to Vassar College where I studied Sociology. I was also on the Rugby and the Crew teams. I love to write both fiction and non-fiction. I also, love to explore, whether it be cities I have been to a dozen times or uncharted territory; I love looking for and finding things I have not seen before.

Currently, I am in search of someone who I can have an amazing conversation with but afterwards also share a hearty laugh and perhaps an adventure or two.

As I said above I am a student and the end goal is to become a full-time professor. I cannot wait for the day that I hold a book in my hands that has my name in the byline.

That is the future plan anyway, currently I spend a lot of time reading, writing papers and procrastinating, as I am doing right now in composing this profile.

Can't seem to think of anything I am "really good" at. If they had a bad at category that would be easier, like hand stands, even though I keep trying.

Things I am good at are writing (and apparently spitting out beautiful fictional style prose when writing nonfiction) listening, board games, mixing cocktails, cooking (when I put my mind to it) and being silly.

I also used to be a fair Rugby player and runner, with one marathon under my belt to prove it.

I think the first thing that people notice about me is probably my glasses and then once you get passed that it is my smile. I always try to find the humor in things. I can often be spotted with a rather suspicious looking smirk.

I feel like I could be here all day...

Books: The Catcher in the Rye, East of Eden, Freedom Summer, I Know this much is True, the Harry Potter series, Lord of the Rings, The Age of Innocence...The list goes on to include variety of fiction and nonfiction. I am not even going to attempt to go into comic books, but I love reading them too.

Movies: Too many to name all but here are a few: Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Hello Dolly, Coming to America, The King and I, Dogma, Arsenic and Old Lace, Casablanca, The Bird Cage, Reservoir Dogs, Star Wars, Drop Dead Fred, Young Frankenstein, Some Like it Hot. Some of the genres I love as well, are horror, science fiction and documentary.

Shows: Dexter, Supernatural, Smallville, Buffy, Angel, Bones, The Kids in the Hall, Newsradio, The Big Bang Theory, I Love Lucy, Six Feet Under.

Music: Elvis, Arcade Fire, Cake, The Clash, Dropkick Murpheys, Vampire Weekend, System of a Down, The Smiths, Prince, Judy Garland, Kings of Leon, Eminem, Pink Floyd, The Shins...eclectic to say the least.

Food: I love all kinds of food, but I am also a simple girl; I love sandwiches and most things things that come in between slices of bread. I also have a special place in my heart for Spanish food.

Sociology, which basically means I think about a lot of different things. It is a wonderful freedom to get up in the morning read something I think is interesting in the news and decide to study it. I think a lot about politics too and the nature of the world in general.

It's really a mixed bag. Sometimes I am traveling visiting different places, friends and family in the tri-state and beyond. Sometimes I am at home writing a paper, reading a book or settling down in front of a good movie. Sometimes I am out with my friends having a good time.

I am a pretty big nerd...not that private, since I am willing to admit it.
