I'm a single mom of 2, in grad school, and working full time. It's a crazy life but I love it! I am upbeat and optimistic, and love being around people who are positive too. I love art and music- can be always be found doing some type of art project or checking out live music when I can. Since I'm crazy busy right now, I'm not so much looking to date- just really more of a penpal. A bit bored with the local scene, I am hoping to get to know someone from the UK for a change of pace!

I have 2 kids, who I am pretty much raising on my own- they are 7 and 4 and quite awesome. I am in grad school for psychology and I work full time as a researcher in a psych lab at the hospital. I have lived in different cities in the US and even overseas, but seem to keep coming back to Providence- it's a nice place to be.

Listening, making people feel comfortable/good about themselves, making fun mix cd's (always with a theme!), cooking up a mean meal of red beans and rice, applying black eyeliner cat-eye style, and thinking of creative projects to do.

I get a lot of compliments on my eyes. People also notice that I'm short (5'1"). And that I talk very quickly when I get excited about something fun!

Books: I love magical realist fiction- Aura, by Carlos Fuentes is one of the most amazing stories you'll ever read. Also love books by Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Francesca Lia Block. Jewel Parker Rhodes has a great historical fiction book about Marie Laveau- Voodoo Magic. Oh, and any astrology book I can get my hands on.

Music: Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Billy Bragg, the Pixies, the Ramones, Leonard Cohen, Psych Furs, Suzanne Vega, Patti Smith. Iggy Pop, Portishead. I love music- am playing something constantly. Particuarly love going record shopping!

Movies: Pump Up the Volume, Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Shawshank Redemption, Heathers, the Breakfast Club... and yes, I admit that Mr. Bean makes me giggle!

Food: I'm pretty much down for whatever- learned to cook a lot when I lived in the Dominican Republic- yum! Also love Chinese, Thai, Italian, Mexican, and Greek. Not so much a red meat eater, but really not so picky at all- like trying new things!

Music, sunshine, Coca-cola, black eyeliner, someone to flirt with, and of course my kids. Not neccessarily in that order. :)

Wow! What a long list... um- everything really- my mind is always going- I do yoga, but find it so hard to stop thinking about a million things at once!

Oh, there's no such thing as a typical anything with me! Maybe I am having movie/pizza night with the kids, out with the girls, out with the boys, or up to any number of things if left to my own devices!
