My self-summary
City-loving flaneur and culture/media junky with a deep-seated appreciation for nature and the outdoors. I'm a huge nerd and information sponge. My big artistic fascinations would be music, film and architecture. I'm not sporty but I love to follow hockey and MMA. Otherwise i've been known to enjoy snowboarding, hiking, swimming, canoe/kayaking, cycling.

I'd say at the top of my travel list right now is New Orleans but it will be a while before I can travel again.

I take exception to OKC labelling me as extremely "worse mannered"... how rude. Don't know how it came to that conclusion. Or less ambitious for that matter.
What I’m doing with my life
Putting an architecture/urbanism thesis(re: post-war homes) on hold to get my life and balance sheet in order... Always looking for more or better work. Thinking of transferring from UWaterloo back to Carleton to finish my Masters. Generally just trying to dig myself out of the 'Underemployed Gen-Y grad slump' and find interesting, new experiences and opportunities.
I’m really good at
Solving problems, teamwork, navigating(cities especially), picking fresh berries, making crepes, all types of games, footbag, starting (camp)fires, predicting film plots, spotting Checkov's pistol, I'd probably be an amazing dresser if I could budget for it, etc, I don't know...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Podcasts: How did this get made(THE BEST), Doug Loves Movies, You Made It Weird with Pete Holmes, Nerdist, Comedy BangBang, The Dead Author's podcast, Girl on Guy with Aisha Tyler, The Joe Rogan Experience, Bill Burr's Monday Morning podcast, By the Way; In conversation with Jeff Garlin and just about any podcast run by comedians.
Music: I'm big into indie-folk and jazz, preferably in small, dark venues or on vinyl. I love the strange and quirky. Recent favorites are the Skatalites, Dr.John, Mumford & Sons, Laura Marling and, as ever, Joanna Newsom. Old Favorites are Tool, Bjork, Mars Volta/ATDI, Rush, King Crimson, etc. My favorite Ottawa performers were the HiLoTrons and the Acorn circa 2006-2008.
TV:HBO for most everything, comedies on FX (like Louie, Archer, Legit, the League, It's Always Sunny), Hockey & MMA, anything J.J.Abrams or Gordon Ramsay. I'm not gonna lie, I'm loving New Girl and Mindy Project though both have awful title sequences. Still into 30 Rock and Parks & Rec. Eagerly waiting for the early return of Game of Thrones! And I'm very sad that Fringe is reaching is end.
Movies:  I really think I've seen every scifi movie of the last few decades. Excluding B-flicks. Also love comedies, mind-benders, police or war epics, indies and period pieces. I'm not above watching a movie because it's particularly awful though.
Food:Curries and Pho are regular favorites, otherwise general pub-fare
Readings: Other than a powerful sprint through the Song Of Ice and Fire series(Game of Thrones) most of my reading is thesis related, newspapers and online randomness. On the far side of my bachelors I went through a long binge on existentialism and satire(Hesse, Neitzsche, Vonnegut, Huxley, Orwell, Camus, Sartre, Kundera, Calvino, etc).
*Have recently started reading much more again (thank you Ebooks!). Recently finished Devil in the White City, The Last Good War as well as Who Stole the American Dream and others.
Fighters: GSP, Diaz brothers, Jon Jones, Josh Barnett, Pat Barry, Jim Miller, Rory MacDonald, Dan Henderson, Alexander Gustafsson, Fedor Emelianenko, and Roy 'Big Country' Nelson.
Hockey: Senators to the end.
The six things I could never do without
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What would Vonnegut Do?

But really,
-How flawed the university system has shown itself to be
-The downward spiral of global economies dealing with demographic shifts & globalization
-The self-inflicted collapse of architecture as an profession/industry
-Whats going to happen to the Starks???
-Why are there so many law students and lawyers on OKC?
-Plot structures and devices
-French history & culture
-The evolution/history of musical instruments
-Sex and gender roles
-What to do this evening
On a typical Friday night I am
If I had my way I'd spend every Friday at either Pressed, RawSugar, Pour Boy, Avant Garde or playing board games with friends some place.

Tonight it's Irene's pub to see the amazing Mike Essoudry's Mash Potato Mashers!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
My all-time favorite movie moment is at the end of The Life Aquatic when they're all crowded into deep search submarine(previously named Jacqueline) and, in witnessing the majestic Jaguar Shark, all come to forgive and accept one another.
