I am pale, kinky, and socialist.

My Self-Summary

Foreword: do NOT use IM to talk to me unless we've been speaking to each other for a while. It's intrusive, and shows that you haven't bothered to read my profile. I will tell you to go away and read my profile, and I will very possibly be unpleasant since you haven't even done me the courtesy of reading a single paragraph about me. Use the Inbox instead. It lets you put together a more detailed communication and means I can respond to you in my own time without your IM screaming for attention.

Now, the actual profile.

My personality is mixed- sometimes very warm and friendly, and sometimes very cold and quite arrogant. Which side you see depends on how much I like you and whether you've left a good impression or not. Good impressions are aided by decent English and showing an interest in any of the things I'm interested in.

You are warned- I am not here seeking relationships. I am not even actively seeking sex, nice as that may sometimes be. I already have people, and their interests and desires come first.

My key interests are sci-fi, fantasy, comic books, politics, goth music, bdsm, and science. Not to say that I'm a science geek, I have no real knowledge of physics or chemistry, but I love to see new scientific discoveries and gadgets- I want transhumanism to be a reality within my lifetime.

My favourite novel authors are Robin Hobb, China Mieville, Ursula K LeGuin, Terry Pratchett, Iain M Banks and Neil Gaiman. My favourite writers of comic books are Neil Gaiman, Warren Ellis, Alan Moore and Grant Morrison. As far as politics go, I'm a utopian socialist and really support human rights and renewable energy policies. My favourite bands include The Sisters Of Mercy, The Mission, Bauhaus, Depeche Mode, Shpongle and The Eternal Fall. I want science to offer me fogletism (see Transmetropolitan) or a chance to become Molly out of Neuromancer.

I enjoy occasional cross-dressing, as traditional male clothing like waistcoats and cravats and frock coats are lovely things and I think I should be able to wear them as much as I like. So should everyone, really.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm currently in the process of getting myself all set up in London and looking for a new job- not easy with the financial crash causing so many to have such strong competition! My flat's great, but being broke's not so fun...

I’m really good at

I can draw maps and sketches of clothing really quickly- the maps are my way of finding places without having to buy a map or print things out.
I can also find information on almost anything quickly thanks to unusually good google-fu.
I'm also pretty good at talking to strangers. All it takes is one little detail for me to notice.

The first things people usually notice about me

In real life- Excessively long red hair, reaching the tops of my thighs, and rather pale skin.
Online- a habit of using archaic and long-winded phrasing over IM instead of using "chat speak" and abbreviations. And it's staying that way.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books- Perdido St Station, The Dispossessed, Transmetropolitan, V For Vendetta.
Movies- Franklyn, Perfect Blue, Pan's Labyrinth (mostly for Del Toro's unique flair).
Music - Depeche Mode (The Dead Of Night), Shpongle (Around The World In A Tea Daze), The Unextraordinary Gentlemen (Mr Soot's Black Book), most of the stuff on SLAY Radio (Commodore 64 hacks and remixes).
Food- ebi tempura udon, lemon sorbet, dark chocolate with essence of earl grey, daifuku mochi, pizza, yorkshire pudding with gravy. Not all at once. Savoured individually.

The six things I could never do without

Basic motor control, human warmth, the atmospheric composition and pressure of planet earth, food, writing tools, communication.

If we're assuming that I have access to food and breathable atmosphere, then I think that well conditioned, clean rope is pretty darn important, and so is the option of a good, hot shower.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

How much I could improve the country I live in if I just had access to all governmental spending figures and the corresponding figures for the needs of the country. Maths isn't too hard, most of the time, and I genuinely think I could help if I just had enough time and a good calculator. I'm not saying I can fix everything, but there have got to be some pretty serious areas of wastage that we could cut down on if we just sat down and reviewed it all systematically. If you want to call me out on my views, then please, note- I'm NOT saying I can fix everything. That would be a stupid claim.

When not thinking about that, I think about how much I miss CCK, how sad it is that Dead Of Night is not recognised as one of the great filthy grinding tunes, and all the food that I don't know how to make but really want to eat. Or I'm being fascinated by something as simple as the play of light across skin when the muscles and bones shift beneath it.

On a typical Friday night I am

On my way to visit someone.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Damned if I know. I'll admit nearly anything if I'm asked, and it depends how I'm asked.

You should message me if

You want conversation, as I'm not looking for a relationship.
As my dear Gentleman is quite heterosexual, neither of us will mind too much if females are after more than conversation. But I'm not up for doing anything other than talking right now.

I'm serious, I just want to talk to people, learn about new authors, or discover other people's views on gender boundaries, or discuss politics/ political theory, or hear about interesting events in London. That sort of thing. I'm not here for sex or a relationship. I want your brain instead.
