What is it with people that post one photo of themselves and six photos of their pet? I like animals just fine, in fact, I have been very attached to a few in the past. However, if you consider your pet to be one of your children, it's highly unlikely that we'd get along.

As I peruse the profiles here on OKCupid, I notice quite a few which say that cigarettes are a deal-breaker because they are "severely allergic to smoke." I'm not a smoker and I'm not going to defend the habit, but I have never met anyone who is actually allergic to cigarette smoke, at best they have a stong aversion. This is significantly different than a medical allergy. They just don't like the smell.

Used to be I couldn't stand the smell of skunks until I found something I really liked that just happened to smell like skunks. Now as I'm driving along and smell a dead skunk, it causes a pleasant reaction in me instead of rolling up the windows and holding my nose. It's all about perception.

Why has OKCupid all of a sudden started presenting me with profiles of women in their 20s and suggesting that "I might like..." them? I suppose in some way I am genetically programmed to be attracted to them but that attraction typically ends when they open their mouth and say something.

Besides, I am absolutely invisible to young women (as it should be) and on those occasions when I'm not, they usually have the decency to call me "sir."
