“I am an excitable person who only understands life lyrically, musically, in whom feelings are much stronger as reason. I am so thirsty for the marvelous that only the marvelous has power over me. Anything I can not transform into something marvelous, I let go. Reality doesn't impress me. I only believe in intoxication, in ecstasy, and when ordinary life shackles me, I escape, one way or another. No more walls.” -Anaïs Nin

Bleh I hate trying to sum up the complexities of who I am in profiles, I'm sure you understand. It's so.... grrr...

Well! My name is Elana (pronounced like Lana Turner...with an E!)... I have a few friends that are on OkCupid, and they encouraged me to join. I'm not really sure what to say in this section, since the other sections pretty much cover what I'd normally just tell you about myself...

Ummm, I'm a Pisces! And if you told me when your birthday was, I would know what sign you were too, right off the bat. I like astrology, don't judge me =p I'm a student, a romantic, and someone who's trying to figure stuff out for herself. I have a big heart.

I love books, music, singing, old movies, fencing, movies in general, acting... well I'm sure you'll get the picture in some of my other sections.

I am adventurous, artistic, and an old soul.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County! My major was political science and my minor is history, and an honorary minor in theatre, but I am a theater major in spirit. I wanted to go to school to get a degree in something I'd need a degree in to do, like be a lawyer, but I still wanted to learn about my craft because I do want to act one day, so I take the classes and am in the plays and so forth. I attended New York Law for a year, but am presently on a... probably permanent hiatus lol. As I discover more about myself. More later!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Depending on the setting, they will either think I'm shy or that I'm really wacky and outgoing. Physically, people notice my hair, my smile, my figure, and my sense of style.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I'm one of those people that say they "listen to everything." I have eclectic taste, because I think to limit yourself to certain genres means you miss out on a lot of good music. A FEW artists that I listen to a lot are:

Regina Spektor
The Beatles
The Decemberists
The Dresden Dolls
Frank Sinatra
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Wolfie represents how I wish I felt sometimes, he hits a happy place in me)
lots of musicals
The Smiths
Fleet Foxes
She & Him
Bob Dylan
The Dresden Dolls
Ella Fitzgerald
Panic at the Disco
David Bowie
The Black Eyed Peas
Ludwig Van Beethoven (Beethoven represents what I actually am, and listening to his music is crazy because there is such familiar emotion in it.)
Michael Jackson
Nick Drake
lots of classical music in general
Elliott Smith
The Postal Service
The Who
Pink Floyd
Zee Avi
We Are Scientists

Breaking Bad
Game of Thrones
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
South Park
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart
Family Guy
The Walking Dead

I mean, food's awesome, 'nuff said. Though I must give a shout out to especially good bread pudding.

Questions about life
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Well that's tough. Hmm, for example, this week on Friday I will be in a show, so I'll list a few, in no particular order.

1) Something theatre related
2) With a friend or friends, doing different things
3) Reading, listening to music, dancing, or watching a movie with myself =)
4) a party
5) mall/restaurant/movies
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Hm, well, I don't really know what I expect from this or anything. 'm a bit scared of opening myself up again after my last relationship. This is a way of forcing myself to not close up like a clam like I want to. Hmmm, and that when I was born it was unlikely I was going to make it, so the doctors pulled me out by my right arm, hurting the nerves in it, so it's hard to do certain things with my right arm, like lifting it all the way up in the air. They should have done a cesarean section. Hmph, stupid doctors.

haha I don't know, if you want to, do it. I am a bit picky, but I tend to be surprised by people I end up liking. I have things I'm looking for, but I don't really know until I talk and/or see someone. I do know that I like open-minded, imaginative people who think outside the box and who are caring. And please don't be crazy. And new friends are welcome!
