ravenously creative, often funny, and geeky
My self-summary Propose an edit
I'm a big film nerd
-- well, let's be honest, I'm a bit of a nerd in general. But a fun and funny one. I'm into art, design and the web, personally and professionally, and I
give my imagination a regular workout. I
like exploring virtual reality, listening to
mashups, competing
at trivia,
reading, walking and running in Forest Park and,
as previously mentioned, movies. I'm from STL but have lived in
many other places, and I like learning foreign languages and
travel when I can.
I am smart and
independent
and have strong opinions. I'm also
something of a raging heathen and a flaming liberal.
Why am I on OKC? Just to see what happens. If I make some new
friends, cool. If I meet someone and something evolves, cool. If
not, no worries. I'm generally interested in open minded people who are pretty
liberal and like
to try new things.
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
I'm a freelance designer (went to school and trained in
New York
City) who's exploring creative projects with an eye towards
opening my own design business or somehow
getting involved in designing video games or virtual environments.
I do quite of lot of writing/editing and illustration on the side. I
may go back to school for a Masters. My adventure is still being
written.
I'm really good at Propose an edit
drawing, writing, design, trivia, computer stuff, maximizing the
potential and resources of the internet, being a nerd, telling stories, hanging out... I'm a natural
leader and can also be a good and loyal friend. Friends have
admitted to dragging me along to awkward social functions because I
can "talk to anybody about anything".
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
My laugh, my eyes, my sense of humor, my brain...
My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit
Books: 100 Years of Solitude,
Catch-22,
The Great
Gatsby, Anne of Green Gables,
Kavalier & Clay,
White Teeth...
also most of the classics, reference books, and anything
non-fiction about sailing and/or explorers...
Movies: Far, far too many to really list, but some absolute faves:
A Room With
A View, Shaun of the Dead, Possession, City of Lost
Children, Sex and Lucia, Howl's Moving
Castle, Jurassic Park... I generally enjoy
the work of Pedro Almodovar, Hayao Miyazaki,
Wes Anderson,
Neil LaBute
and Jean-Pierre Jeunet. I like
everything from foreign films to fussy literary adaptations to
black comedies to big stupid Hollywood blockbusters (preferably
involving giant predators).
Music: Honestly, I like almost everything except new country and
jazz. My music collection has everything from A-ha to Jay-Z (and even a mashup of the two). I'm a
classical musician so I love classical music and film scores, too.
Food: I admit it, I'd be happy to eat Mexican food every meal for the
rest of my life. I also like Ethiopian, Thai and, after living in
England, have a soft spot for some of the horrible things they do
with carbohydrates.
The six things I could never do without Propose an edit
(in no particular order)
1. movies
2. music and books -- it's all language flowing into the
brain
3. my sketchbook/the ability to draw and sketch ideas
4. nature -- green things growing, the wide open sky,
water...
5. virtual reality/my computer (proud Mac geek)
6. Mexican food
I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit
... the potential of virtual worlds
... having kids (I want to do this someday, but it's an
intimidating step)
... where all the other heathens are
... how to turn the ideas in my head into working realities
... design (which translates to: how things are dreamed up, mapped,
created, sold, marketed, fashioned, etc).
... chord progressions
... burritos
On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit
... either at the pub with my gang of friends in real life or, when
the weather is bad, playing trivia and chatting with friends in
virtual reality.
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit
... I think the brain is the sexiest part of the human body.
You should message me if Propose an edit
... you're interested. Nothing personal, but don't bother if you're
really religious, already have a small army of children, or eat,
sleep and breathe jazz. (Ack, did I say I was open minded?) Also,
I'm not a svelte supermodel (who is?), so if that's what you're
looking for, please keep clicking. Oh, and please note that just
because I'm into virtual reality doesn't mean I'll have instant
cybersex with you -- I would, however, love to meet any other
Second Life
users, since I've never hung out with anyone locally who is
in-world. Cheers!
Note: my personality awards fluctuate widely, change alot, and,
frankly, are kinda baffling. On the Dating Persona test, I've
scored both The
Priss and The
Nymph, so... I dunno, what can I tell you.
