I am the eggman, the eggmen, and the walrus.

My Self-Summary

For starters I live for new experiences. If i'm not off having some crazy adventure or working on some unusual project then i'm probably in a coma.
Right now i'm attending Murray State University and heading up my own creation of a disaster response organization. You can check us out on facebook or meetup.com, Murray State Disaster Response Crew. We do alot of volunteer chainsaw work for parks departments and individuals affected by the recent ice storm.
For most of my adult life i've been a nomadic volunteer. I was in New Orleans for a while doing Katrina relief. I spent ALOT of time in Iowa during the 2008 flood. I've worked with Habitat for Humanity in so many states i'm not sure I can remember them all, and i've worked for alot of parks departments voluntarilly. I know my way around a chainsaw.
As soon as I finish up my degree(s) in special ed & psychology i'll be headed off to join the Peace Corps. But right now i'm really just focused on school and volunteer chainsaw work.
Whenever I can I like to get back out there and travel around. I was in New York last summer working at a camp for special needs kids, so I got to visit a few places that I wouldn't normally have gone. Massachusetts is alright, but I can't say i'm a huge fan of Rhode Island. Normally my travells take me around the south and mid-west. I ended up going to Italy and France back in 06' but that was kind of a pilgrimage for me, not a volunteer trip. At the moment i'm looking into a program that would allow me to student teach with special needs kids in Ireland.
Just to throw it out there, I fund all this stuff myself. Working two or three jobs while going to college full time is not unheard of for me. All of the women i've ever had a real emotional connection with came from situations similar to my own. So before you go messaging me please keep in mind that i'm really not looking for party girls or girls who have never really had to be out on their own and fend for themselves. I'm not looking to be anyone's dad or boss. I'm just in the market for coffee at this point. Mmmmm I luvs me some coffee.

What I’m doing with my life

Right now i'm just going to college and trying to make my little non-profit the biggest and best little non-profit it can be. I love open mics and try to get in on them whenever I can. I don't have a tremendous amount of original stuff, but the stuff I do have is pretty good. More often than not i'll be doing Bob Dylan, Norah Jones, and White Stripes covers.

Ask me about my Norah Jones experience if you're a fan. Other than that i'm preparing all the documents for my Peace Corps aplication. I want that thing to go through ASAP.

I’m really good at

I'm a pretty damn good Bob Dylan impersonator. I can operate a chainsaw like you would not believe, and i'm not too shabby when it comes to carpentry. Most of that stuff comes from my years as a travelling volunteer/bard. My real focus right now is Evolutionary Psychology. It's really helped me to understand alot more about human interactions and exactly why men and women often act in ways that seem illogical. It's very interesting stuff, ask me about it sometime. I also consider myself to be a pretty well "connected" person if you know what i'm saying. I'm not talking "I have friends in high places" connected. I'm talking about a more "I understand exactly what's going on around me at any given time and understand the emotional feel of my surroundings" kind of connected. If you don't know what i'm talking about then don't worry about it. You'll figure it out.

The first things people usually notice about me

I'm always wearing some kind of volunteer shirt. I do this for two reasons. One: that's pretty much all I have, and two: they're EXCELLENT conversation starters. Everywhere I go people make comments about my Americorps or Hands On or Habitat for Humanity shirts and the conversation just goes from there. I do own a few nice shirts, some dress pants & dress shoes but I only wear them if i'm going somewhere important. You'll usually see me rockin' my beat up Americorps BDUs, a volunteer shirt, and my good ol' Americorps NCCC headband.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Just ask me, I have way too many books & music to list. Although High Fidelity is my favorite movie & book. And I love Norah Jones.

Okay, so perhaps there are too many to list, but I can pick out some highlights. I just got done reading the Tipping Point and Blink. Those were definately in my top 50. Freakonomics was a great book as well. I'm a huge fan of R.A. Salvatore and Margaret Weis/Tracy Hickman (big Dragonlance fan). Douglas Niles is one of my favorite authors. Actually, pretty much all Dragonlance writers except Nancy Verian Berberick are 10+ in my book. And she kind of redeemed herself with the latest elven exiles trillogy. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea has been one of my favorites since I was a kid. But the Shadow War Trillogy by George Lucas & Chris Clairmont is something you should really check out if you're a fan of Willow. the Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan is always good. i'm up to book five. Love in the Time of Cholera, Dork Whore was a really good book if you're into self exploration. My Boring Ass Life the biography of Kevin Smith was a big favorite of mine. I also read alot of biographies and autobiographies. The most recent of which being the biographies of John Dillinger and Rubin Carter a.k.a "Hurricane". the Mating Mind, the Red Queen, Sperm Wars, Dog Training, Think and Grow Rich, and my psychology text books are also favorites of mine.

I'm a big fan of Bob Dylan, Green Day, Norah Jones, the White Stripes, Bright Eyes, Billy Idol, the Police, KISS, and of course a bunch of other stuff that'll come up at some point or another.

The six things I could never do without

Numero Uno: Women. I've spent my entire life surrounded by women and I can't imagine living without them.

Numero Dos: I wouldn't want to live without books.

Numero Tres: My guitar would take up this slot. Her name is Ogre Battle and she is awesome.

Quatro: Chain saws. More specifically my chain saw, Jamie. She's pretty cool. Don't piss her off, she'll cut you.

V: Love and affection. I'm a big fan, whenever I pick a woman to actually be my "girlfriend" I'm usually alot more motivated and optimistic. Which is kind of over the top, because i'm kind of already really motivated and optimistic to begin with.

Number Six: Self confidence and recognition for my work. There was a time back in high school and into my early 20s when I wasn't self confident at all. If I compare my life now to my life then, my life now wins by about a billon per cent.
It might sound kind of selfish, but I need recognition for the work that I do. It's important for me that people see what i'm doing to help their community. Which is why i'm a really good PR guy to have around.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I try to live 100% in the moment. If i'm thinking about something that's not related to where I am or what i'm doing then I need to refocus.

On a typical Friday night I am

That all just depends. I could be anywhere doing anything. I might be playing at a coffee shop, or just chilling in my dorm room reading a book. Or I might be fighting crime. you never know.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm a big D&D nerd.

You should message me if

If you like coffee then message me. I'm a big fan of meeting people at coffee shops because if they end up trying to convert me to their religion or sell me Amway products, I have an easy escape route. So yeah, message me if you're interested in any of the above stuff.
You should probably not message me if you're a "party girl" or if you're the kind of person who'se looking to get married and have kids.
I really don't have alot of free time so please be considerate. Good luck with your search.
