My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
In short I'm a very easy going, music loving, guitar playing, wannabe rock star, vegan, polyamorous hippie. If at any point in this profile I give you the impression that I am a serious person, then yeah, no.

I am currently heavily involved in playing in my progressive metal band and my life, when not working, revolves largely around playing or listening or watching music. I love live music, whether in big concerts, dingy bars or slumming it at festivals.

While this may be somewhat one dimensional I'm actually quite happy about it right now though I do have a large shelf worth of hobbies and interests gathering dust. I started making a list and then didn't. So there. It's long. I like doing things and thinking about things, which is pretty unique so I hear.

My beliefs, which are oh so important, lean towards the left ... and then lean some more ... and then some more until they fall over, have a fit and spew red and black foam from their collective mouths. Beliefs aren't worth shit without action though and my actions are, I admit, pretty moderate and disgustingly liberal. My belief in human nature ultimately makes me an apologist of basically everything though, which makes some people (i.e. myself) a little uncomfortable.

Last but by no means least, I'm currently in a happy, open and sickeningly loving polyamorous relationship with the girlfriend. It is good.

I try not to label or arbitrarily limit any relationship I may be part of and so I am always open to new people coming into my life in whatever form because I'm pathetically indecisive. That said I'm also finding it hard to find time for many things so I'm not actually actively looking. Except when I am.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Pursuing a somewhat foolish dream of earning a living as a fucking rockstar while simultaneously actually earning a much more stable living as an engineer of big oily metal things. Either way I get to work with Metal, so I guess that's probably a thing for me.

If I had my way I'd be out exploring the various things London had to offer, high and low culture alike, every night and day I could. Sadly time, money and energy are not unlimited commodities so I can primarily be found at gigs, doing gig things, and loving it.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Self-deprecation and comparing my skills in too wide a context.

I'm fairly good at:
Playing guitar.
Engineering things.
Being generally quite nice to people.
Sarcasm (if you hear me say something that sounds serious, think again).
Not giving a shit about small things. Really. I just don't care.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My hair, or my height, or maybe my ability to mention my band within minutes of a first meeting.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I never like these sections. They're rambly and largely irrelevant, so please, just skip it. I'm much more interested in your general approach to life and how we interact than your specific favourite things.

I've decided to make this section shorter and simpler. I have plenty of opinions on books, film, TV and art but it seems a little pointless to just list things.

Music: I quite like music to be honest. Just, like, a little bit. Especially live. And I'm quite picky. Mostly I like some kind of combination of technical ability, aggression, emotion, heavy beats and soundscaping. Which means a lot of progressive metal, post rock and hardcore punk for the most part. And some heavy as fuck DnB and Dubstep is lovely at a grotty club or festival tent. I decided to stop being a music snob though so I'm willing to give most things a fair chance. If you can show me why you love it I'd certainly be interested.

Books: I read mostly sci-fi at various levels of literary merit. Or else pretty dark and twisted or absurdist 'non-genre' fiction. Ill arbitrarily say the recently and sadly departed Iain Banks is my favourite writer as he has done some of the best of both those worlds. Recently started reading Kurt Vonnegut who's sort of casually inserted himself into my favourites like he should always have been there, the sly fox. I've been known to enjoy a graphic novel/comic or five in my time too. Particularly the darker stuff ala Alan Moore or Warren Ellis.

Movies: I'm very easily pleased by movies and don't consider myself a connoisseur by any stretch, though I do love watching and discussing them. Scifi and action go down well of course, especially of the 80s and early 90s variety. If I had to chose a favourite ... Terminator 2, or Leon maybe. Or Aliens. Or ... fuck it.

Shows: Not as big on shows as they require a bigger time commitment than I normally can manage. I've seen plenty but sporadically. Lately, GoT and Walking Dead. Used to be into anime somewhat and Cowboy Bebop remains one of my favourite things I've seen ever. Partly because of the incredible soundtrack.

Food: I'm mostly Vegan, but pretty pragmatically so. Apart from that tiny thing I'm not picky. I love good food, and Indian and Sushi are sure ways to get me wet.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I feel I can get used to living without most things short of my ability to listen to, and in some capacity create, music. Oh and sunlight.
Im wrong of course and would be a miserable whiny git without modern conveniences, but I can pretend.

In the spirit of the question Id have to say:
Music player with decent headphones
Kindle loaded with scifi books/stories
Phone with Mobile data and GPS
My hair (its where my power resides)
Diet coke. First step is admiting I have a problem, right?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
... existential shit. It does occupy a large part of my thinking time, without any real progress or benefit derived. Our existence is just fascinating though, and sometimes unbearably frustrating.

... how to not give a fuck about even more non-consequential things. Slowly in the process of purging my life, and my brain, of unimportant worries. And hopefully some important worries too, just for good measure.

... what my first tattoo should be and where it should go. I've narrowed it down to some kind of collection of lines and colour placed somewhere upon my body.

... how wonderful it would be if the idea of gender binarism, and maybe gender in general, went and died in a ditch somewhere. Unloved, unremembered, and stewing in its own piles of fallacious bullshit.

... extended solos for songs I'm listening to ... or how to do a prog metal version of it ... or chunky drum/bass beats ... or overly elaborate song intros ... or guitar parts I can't actually play ... or how I'd rather be at band rehearsal or on stage ... or how I'm probably pissing off everyone around me by incessantly hand drumming on everything within reach ... or whatever latest article I read about ... or the book I'm reading ... or ... you know ... stuff.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Really depends. At home exhausted and resting, or out at a metal bar talking shit, or at a gig, or sitting on a friend's balcony spying on neighbours, or locked in a mate's room all night with good music and good people, and or any number of things really. I am an active and dynamic person with a wide portfolio of interests, damnit.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Just about anything if you ask me. I'm not a very private person and I don't really have anything worth hiding. Read into that what you will.
