I am funny, bad with strangers, and off-the-cuff.

My Self-Summary

I don't think anyone can accurately summarize themselves (better to ask their friends and enemies), but I'll try anyway. I make a lot of jokes at appropriate and inappropriate times, and I'm close to my family but can't wait to move away from them. I dress kind of like a guy and I have short hair. I'm addicted to This American Life. I'm in denial about my half-hipster status. I'm trying to learn to be more creative, which has mostly manifested itself in some odd DIY pieces of clothing. My interests include travelling, cooking, mystery novels, and half-assed cycling and running.

What I’m doing with my life

I go to school, to hopefully at some point be a member of the "I make more than minimum wage" club.

I’m really good at

Making people laugh (or trying)
Cooking
Talking about movies and books
Doing something unexpected

The first things people usually notice about me

My glasses (which I'm not wearing in any of my photos - it's a defense mechanism, they're so noticeable that posting pictures of them on here could lead to weird public spottings of me... I guess I like my anonymity.)

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Anything by Jane Austen, Sarah Waters, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, David Sedaris, Peter Robinson - and I cried over 'Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close' and His Dark Materials.
Movie: I love movies, but I'm really an HBO freak.
Music: Neko Case, Tom Waits, Old 97's, disco, rap (if T-Pain doesn't make you grin a little, I'm a little disappointed), Joni Mitchell's Court and Spark.
Food: Tea, tea biscuits, pasta, homemade cookies, turkey, toasted sandwiches, asparagus.

The six things I could never do without

My metropass, a well-stocked library, a phone to call my family with, a computer to connect me to my friends, beer, exercise shoes.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

feminism, what to eat for my next meal, what good song lyrics mean, what other people are thinking, what my dreams from the night before meant.

On a typical Friday night I am

drinking a beer... actually, I'm probably watching Medium on W Network because I'm bad at making plans quickly.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Nothing?
