unusual, direct, and minty-fresh
My self-summary Propose an edit
Me, huh? Well, I'm a lifelong east coaster who one day just up and
decided to transplant himself in Northern California. Alas...
things didn't work out, so on May 27th, 2007, I packed up my car (a
'97 Honda Accord named Steve) and began a drive back east.
I'm a scientist by nature, teacher by choice, artist and dreamer by
default. My friends tell me I'm one of a kind. I've also been told
(more than once!) that I have a nice butt.
I'm no dreamboat though-- you're looking at a nerd, dork, however
you call one who is master of the not cool. I'm addicted to the
internet. Until recently, I played World of Warcraft, and my social
life suffered. I've seen every episode of Star Trek: The Next
Generation, even the ridiculous one where they get turned into
kids. I even find ways to be nerdy about cool stuff, like beer (if
you ever visit a brewery, I can tell you exactly what's going on
and what all the numbers next to each beer mean) and baseball (I'm
a lifelong Red Sox fan*).
*(It's been brought to my attention that with the recent success of
Boston teams, it is now cool to be a Red Sox fan. This is okay, but
I must stress once again, that if you lived in Connecticut in the
80's and 90's, and you picked the Red Sox as your team instead of
the Yankees, you were a dork. I was okay with that, and still
am.)
Right now I'm just trying to make my way in a world of grown-ups--
meeting new people and making connections, staying in touch with
the important people in my life (family especially), and doing my
best to look on the bright side of life (*whistles*). I'm moving to
Stockbridge in June 2008, hopefully to work with artistically
inclined people. Or maybe just artistically inclined concepts.
Either or, really.
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
Waiting for the real version of it to begin.
I'm really good at Propose an edit
Dancing badly, roundhouse kicks, improvising piano melodies, being
accomodating, remembering large amounts of useless trivia, engaging
strangers in awkward conversation, cooking elaborate meals,
teaching foreigners about American culture, making up dirty
limericks, and humming middle C without the aid of a pitch pipe.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
My transcendent hotness? I don't know! If you ever come face to
face with me, let me know.
(edit: asking this question to a sampling of friends, I've gotten
the following responses. Hair, eyes, hooded sweatshirt, shyness.
Though I would say I'm not as shy as I used to be.)
My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit
Books: Lord of the Rings, anything by David Eddings, Neil Gaiman,
Barbara Kingsolver, or Chuck Klosterman. Catch-22, The Hitchiker's
Guide to the Galaxy, The Glory of Their Times, A Confederacy of
Dunces, Stranger in a Strange Land, The Chronicles of Narnia,
Freakonomics, The Time Traveler's Wife. Also, I devour internet

Fish. I fear that my musical taste is stagnating and I'm looking
for new (or old) artists to start listening t. Haven't heard much
of his music, but Tom Waits seems like a good idea. Oh, and remixes
of old video game music. YES.
Foods: I'll eat almost anything. Spicy and unusual is a plus. Fish
is usually a minus, but I love sushi (though, it seems every OKC
user does these days.)
The six things I could never do without Propose an edit
My computer, orange juice, the outdoors, an internet connection, my
family and friends. (Note: I can do without these for periods of
time, but eventually I'd start to think about not having these
things and go mad. Not good for any involved.)
UPDATE (8/14/08): No Internet at home. I'm getting by with going to
the library to check my email, but it's definitely not ideal.
I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit
The state of the world today. What it would be like to disappear.
The relative reality of the things I see. What to eat for lunch.
Why good sex never gets old. Whether or not everyone has a
legitimate chance to better themselves in some way. Devastating
Muay Thai combinations. What I should do with my life. Your mom.
On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit
1) Doing something on the internet 2) Doing something else on the
internet 3) Out catching some live music and/or grabbing a beer
with friends.
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit
I once was in a play where one of my costumes consisted of
tighty-whities and a clear plastic poncho.
