My self-summary
I currently reside in the Bay Area and am planning to relocate to the Austin area in October. Truth be told I'm quite nervous as I have never been there and don't know anyone but I have heard wonderful things about it so I'm willing to take a chance. Please feel free to give any suggestions about neighborhoods to live in or fun things to do.

About me; I earn a living as a therapist working with severely traumatized children who live in group homes and I run a foster care department in for the agency I am employed by. My job can be stressful so when not working I take full advantage of my off time. I enjoy travel and exploration, learning about different cultures (currently fascinated with India), the performing arts (especially musical theatre.... No day but today), long drives with the windows down listening to music, the NPR weekend schedule (This American Life, Wait Wait, Car Talk, Prairie Home Companion, Radio Lab), watching movies (although I'm rather selective of what I watch), keeping in shape (physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually) exploring mindfulness and eastern wisdom, reading, and doing what I can to help others. I do believe we can create a world where everyone wins. Plus a couple weekends ago I figured out how to save the world from the "1%". It's actually quite simple, just a slight shift of perspective. Not bad for a night's work of deep contemplation.
What I’m doing with my life
Perusing Groupon to find new fun things to do; looking for an adventurous partner to go explore with.
I’m really good at
Ranting existential BS
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favorite Movies: Baraka, Waking Life, Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, Before Midnight, Joy Luck Club, Monsoon Wedding, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Somewhere in Time, One Week, The Girl In The Cafe, I Heart Huckabees, Salaam-E-Ishq, Samsara, Better off Dead.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Nelson Mandela's quote, "Sometimes it falls upon a generation to be great. You can be that great generation. Let your greatness blossom".

I'm constantly wondering what can I do to be "great". I don't mean "great" in the narcissistic sense of the word or the me-first mentality that has come to define Westernism. I think of "great" in terms of how can I be useful and make a positive contribution in the world while working toward creating a world where everyone wins.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm really starting to think I look my age. For as long as I can remember I was always told I look much younger than my actual age and now I think I caught up to it. It's kind of daunting actually. After all we live in a culture that brainwashes us to think aging isn't natural and something we have to fight against. But although it's a bit daunting it's actually peaceful to realize I don't have to look young forever to be happy. Now it's time to find someone to grow old with.
