My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
OK, KIDS! Here's the deal: I am only here to look for friends, plain n' simple. If you've got ulterior motives, stay away. I am in a committed, monogamous relationship. I'll bring out my fake Texan accent here to emphasize: There ain't no way that's gonna change, y'all.

(Actually I am originally from Texas, but you won't find a southern belle drawl here.)

I know it's, like, weird shopping for friends using Cupes. This is a dating site, right?? Yeah well, friends are just as important as lovers. I think a lot of people forget that. If someone makes a FRIENDING SITE (like, with matching algorithms and shit), I will be there, honeh. And no, this is isn't some creepy underhanded attempt at scoring girls for threesomes. My brain just doesn't work that way. Anyway, I've had a large amount of success in meeting people here twice before, so why not try again?

I've lived in Rochester for a few years now and met lots of people around here before. But 2013 was just all-around a very difficult year for me. Just about all of my closest friends moved away from Rochester. Even I moved away for about 3 months back to Texas, hoping to start a new life. Well, it's a long story but I ended up back in Rochester. I know and love this town, but I have to start all over again in terms of friends.

I would really like to make a female friend at the moment, mostly because right now I really don't have any! It's always been so much easier for me to make friends with men. I still haven't figured out the reason, exactly. I think it's because men are more direct and therefore I understand them better. But my closest female friends in the past shared a bond with me that, frankly, I've just never sensed with a guy friend. So yeah, I'm open to talking to dudes too (but no ulterior motives, remember?). I'm in need of an unbiased confidante at the moment - someone who will spill their guts to me and let me spill them right on back. This could easily be someone nearby or someone far, far away - male or female.

Ok. So here's some stuff about me, starting with things I like:

1) Adventure! Go to new places, try new foods, meet new people, hear new music, wear new clothes, smell new smells, learn new THANGZ. But I can also be a homebody. Staying in with a cat and a book/movie sounds marvelous.

2) Listening to stories, giving advice, and in general getting into awesome conversations where there's a comfortable interchange goin'. If it feels one-sided, I might get a bit bored.

3) Biking, looking at the sunset, being outside but not being bug-bitten, DANCIN', being silly, enjoying life and being alive.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
For my schoolin', I studied music and library science. Those are my 2 THANGZ.

I have a pretty neat job as a reference librarian right now, mmmhmm. I have business cards and an office phone number which makes me fancy.

This is the first time in pretty much ever that I've not been a student so I'm making the most of my time and trying to improve myself in multitudinous ways.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
playing violin (I can teach ya as well), singing (mi mi mi mi), giving massages (you might get one if you hint real nicely), cooking (especially Asian soups like pho or wonton), bowling (wanna join a league with me?), listening (what was that you just said?), and asking lotsa questions, and explaining myself in the most verbose way possible and typing in run-on sentences that will make your brain hurt.

I am not so good at, but am interested in: indoor rock climbing (aka facing two of my fears: showing my lack of physical finesse in public and uh, heights), tennis, biking, learning languages, literature & writing, various mythologies, marine biology, databases / information technologies, drawing & painting, and running.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm usually ridiculously happy, but I have my sarcastic moments. I try my best to put people at ease with me, but I can also be pretty awkward at first. I will tell you just about anything if you get me comfortable enough. And I'll become progressively sillier as you get to know me.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
- Spotify (or at least my music collection)
- Kitties
- Sunflower Seeds
- Cookies
- Dessert Wines
- Ibuprofen
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
- how to ensure that I live a long, pleasurable life without many regrets

- who exactly is this person that is me and what the hell do I want out of life? I am constantly in flux and in need of self-reevaluation

- What motivates people to behave the way they do

- How to find or create beauty in the most unlikely of places

- What has not yet been done or said or felt
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
attending a concert (be it rock or classical), going out dancing, BOWLING, enjoying a game night / get-together at my place, or staying in for a relaxing evening with a book or a movie.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
- I have tried being poly and it didn't quite work out for me. The thing I miss most about it was making friends through the process of dating, hence why I'm here. Can we be friends and skip the whole dating thing?

- I may or may not have been in a complicated love triangle with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.

- I wink far more frequently in cyber space than I do in real life.

- I have nearly 20/20 vision, but I wear glasses sometimes anyway.

- If you just have to put me in a box, apparently I'm INFP
You should message me if

(Rochesterites: I'll make you cookies if you listen to the Whole Lotta Shakin' radio show on WRUR. Cookies and hugs if you've been to the Bop Shop. Soup, hugs and crème brûllée if you've both been to the Bug Jar and seen the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.)

-You want to talk about books and/or writing (need a proofreader?)

- You enjoy conversation and even though you probably know more shit than I do, you'll find me interesting to converse with nonetheless

- You live far away from me, have an interesting story to tell, and enjoy penpalish exchanges

- You are interested in one or more of the following activities: bowling, dancing (of many varieties), tennis, watching hockey, biking/hiking/walking/running, visiting museums

- You speak some French and wanna practice
