My self-summary
This space was previously all about things that I did (Went to school for many different things, got a master's degree, worked jobs) but not really the things I am, so let's try something new!
What I am is a nerd. I'm a liberal, I'm a skeptic, I'm an ally, a feminist and sex positive. I'm a photographer, a painter, a writer, and a scientist. I'm still a musician that's out of practice. I'm outspoken about free speech. I'm improving myself and getting by. I'm looking for someone that thinks all the above is awesome. Maybe that's you!

For anyone interested, this is my blog where I talk about issues that I find important and where I post pictures:
What I’m doing with my life
I am paying for this nice second degree by recruiting and managing participants for specific grants at KU. I get a lot of spare time with that, so I'm also training up to do a 5k, I do a lot of lifting and try to get in 3k 4 times a week, hopefully more soon! I would like to someday open a game store.
I’m really good at
Being very smart. Both actually knowing a lot and as in Smart Alec.
Making Chili.
Being awesome (at being a nerd).
The first things people usually notice about me
I believe that its likely that I'm a six foot six, blond haired, blue eyed, barrel chested man of clearly Viking descent. After that, probably that I'm pretty relaxed for a viking!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I just finished Kraken by China Mieville and I really liked it, though I understand now why critics think he's a smug s.o.b. which I would probably get along with. I really am fond of H.P. Lovecraft, and some of the later horror writers that he inspired, P.K. Dick is great, I love Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep (Also, Bladerunner). Neil Gaiman has amazing comic books (Sandman) though I enjoyed American Gods and Neverwhere, too. I finally have all of the Scott Pilgrim graphic novels, kind of happy about that. Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash and Diamond Age are probably my all time favorites.

Movies? Well I like those, too. Especially if something blows up. In truth, I do really like Bladerunner and Alien, two of Ridely Scott's (even though Prometheus sucked), not going to lie to you, really a fan of Labyrinth. Things I saw recently that I liked John Dies at the End, The Prestige, Hellboy, Shaun of the Dead, Running Man and Total Recall. I have been watching a lot of Star Trek: The Next Generation lately. If you hate Firefly, we probably won't get along. :P

Music, I can't even... I could go on for a while. Radiohead is by far my favourite band, hands down. I have a new love of Marina and the Diamonds, The Decemberists, alt-J, The Naked and Famous, Sleigh Bells, Pretty Lights, and few others, and old love for Yeasayer, Daft Punk, Halou, Zero 7, Portishead, Morcheeba, Massive Attack, The Faint, TV on the Radio, and a list as long as my arm.

I freaking love felafel. I will eat it until I'm sick. I've been trying (real hard) to stick to the South Beach diet lately, getting my veggies in. I exist on a diet primarily of stir fried vegetables and meat. I hardly ever eat any sugar, but I will always go to Glace if I'm near the plaza, because ICE CREAM.

I also really like gaming. Board games, table top games, role-playing games, video games, you know, real nerd things (I have all of Arkham Horror, if you know what that is, we should probably get to know each other. Just sayin'). Me and my friends have been playing a lot of Magic, Commander/edh style.
The six things I could never do without
1. Pen and paper.
2. My kitten, Shadow! I think she can do without me, though.
3. Avocadoes/pineapples.
4. Stars, we are all made of them.
5. My towel. Always have a towel and remember not to panic.
6. I am going with Diet Dr. Pepper for now.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Pretty much everything, really.
On a typical Friday night I am
Usually not much, Thursday is game night! Hopefully hanging out with a cool new lady!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
While animals like me and I take very good care of them, I seem to be anathema to plants. I followed all the directions I was given when I was taking care of someone else's plants and they just kind of.... Exploded.
