My Self-Summary

Hello hello hello! I never know what to say when introducing myself over the faceless forum of the internet...I suppose I best say that I'm happy with a simple life filled with good friends, exciting adventures, great books, and the green wonders of nature!

Nowadays, you'll catch me every morning heading to the gym before work, coming in to the office and grabbing a cup of coffee, and then diving into my attempts to make our company pop! I find myself less of a morning person after having worked at an eco-technology start up for a year...too many late nights and unpredictable deadlines. But some things remain the same since I moved to Philly: I read before bed even if I'm exhausted...I just love books!

I'm always looking for someone to share great moments and adventures with! I like to *do* things...so if you get bored easily, I'm not for you! :)

What I’m doing with my life

For the past year, I have tried my hand at a small start up company that does energy saving home automation technology as their Operations Manager where I basically act like Tom Smykowski from Office Space. Recently I was promoted to the Director of Public Relations position as well. It's exciting and stressful and hard and fun...whether or not I get much of a life outside of work, this job is a MUCH better fit than working in higher education (my previous 9 years of professional work!). Plus I work with almost all guys now--which is a WAY better working environment for me because I don't like catty drama.

I’m really good at

lots of random stuff: metalsmithing, reading books quickly, editing and proofreading, hosting large groups of people, baking, teaching (anything from how to rock climb to high school literature), storytelling, making mix cds, and making people feel loved and appreciated.

The first things people usually notice about me

Most of the time, people notice that I love to tell stories! I love to bring a group together through sharing tales and talking about life as it is lived...my smile is always genuine and I love to laugh and tease friends.

Now most people notice I don't really live in Philly anymore. I have given up my apartment to save money and am couch surfing with friends Mon-Wed, but then head off to NYC for the weekend where I have a place to live for free. This nomadic lifestyle takes a lot of people by surprise, but I don't mind at all...for now. I would rather save the money in this economy than pay to live in Manayunk!

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Favorite books: epic fantasies like The Neverending Story by Michael Ende and Lord of the Rings, amazing and startling fiction like We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver, and non-fiction books revolving around historical matters or education.

Movies? Everyday I like something different...I do enjoy bad movies like Transformers just because it's by MICHAEL BAY! *LOL* This answer changes...I loved Amelie, American Beauty, Galaxy Quest, and Team America World Police so it's clear I have no specific genre. :)

Food...gah. It's probably better to list the foods I don't really like: most Indian food (I don't know why, I'm just not a curry gal), most Vietnamese food (elephant fish, no!), and pretty much anything that's REALLY REALLY spicy.

The six things I could never do without

1) good hiking shoes and a backpack 2) the internet and its many many tragically entertaining diversions 3) the 4th edition Scrabble dictionary 4) music--all kinds 5) my best friends--they are like my family! 6) my daily walk, run, or swim.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

my work, my friends and their lives and how I can make them better, and what I want to do next in my life!

On a typical Friday night I am

either hosting out of town friends, driving to visit friends in other cities/states, or doing something local...I don't have a "typical" Friday night--or any other night for that matter--as I like to do whatever comes up!

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

anything! I live my life like an open book!
