My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a serious dork at heart. I'm the guy who finds any excuse to add a new gadget to the house, but at the same time I spend most of my time outdoors grilling, cycling, kayaking, hiking, who knows what.

I'm a Midwestern transplant who came out here after spending a while living overseas and I'm still having a hard time adjusting to Boston weather!

A few of my favorite things are thunderstorms in the summer, cider donuts in the fall, snow days in the winter, and early morning fishing trips in the spring.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I've done a lot with my life so far. In the past I've been a pilot, a riding instructor, a chef, a teacher, an IT guy, a security consultant, a military man, and a musician. Today, I manage datacenters, IT, and IT security for a tech startup out of Westborough.

I've lived and lost my dream. At this point, I work so that I can afford to enjoy my free time, which I spend cycling, hiking, camping, kayaking, skydiving, etc. I suppose that's a roundabout way of saying I'm bad at saving money, but I'm enjoying the ride!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
You know those puns that make you groan? Those.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I get a lot of comments on my eyes - they shift between green and blue. I'm also told I have a lot of energy - I blame the espresso machine at my desk.

I'm Scottish and Irish by descent - We get sunburned from watching fireworks. I often get told I'm a little red, as if people think I just haven't noticed.

Books: A Dog's Purpose, The Art of Racing in the Rain, The Historian, The Rule of 4, The Alchemist, The Pillars of the Earth, all of the Harry Potter books, and any of about a hundred other books.

TV: Dr. Who, The West Wing, and Top Gear will forever be my favorites, but I rarely miss a chance to watch Sherlock, Downton Abbey, Battlestar Galactica, Breaking Bad, Mythbusters, Game of Thrones, the list goes on and on...

Movies: Star Trek, Rush, Top Gun, Stripes, Caddy Shack, Ghost Busters, Lost in Translation, and any of about a dozen others.

Food: Just follow! I especially love ice cream and BBQ!
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Aside from my family and friends, there's a lot I could do without. As long as I have a project / destination / goal that I'm moving toward, I'm a happy guy!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How much time is too much for Duolingo and Team Treehouse?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Getting a beer with friends and figuring out what to do on Saturday.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I once had an elk attempt to eat my hammock while I was sleeping in it down in the Smoky Mountains. There's a great video of it on YouTube.

I really like Grace Mitchell's version of Maneater. Actually, almost all of the soundtrack from The Secret Life of Walter Mitte for that matter.
