My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
30 year old digital geek, writer, lamington baker, pun maker, cat lover and Batman enthusiast. An inability to sing isn't keeping me from writing a musical, or will it ever keep me from rocking out at karaoke.

I have a cat, Frazil, that walks on a leash - she's been to the snow, the beach or just around the city - and does tricks. Her best trick is 'sleep' which she practices constantly.

I feel very strongly about the "which is bigger, the sun or the earth?" question on this site and wonder how people get this wrong.

Routes to my heart are many and varied, including: cultural studies; Doctor Who; foods I've never tried before; people watching; moral arguments and discussing the minutiae of modern interactions, and; terrible jokes.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
In 2012 I left working in marketing agencies (advertising and PR) and, while I still enjoy the work I do, I've never looked back. I spent 2012-13 travelling backpacking around the world and have been to some amazing places over the years. Favourite places include doing aid work in Timor Leste, visiting the Chernobyl reactor and the abandoned city of Pripyat, working in London and exploring cities like Tokyo, New York, St Petersburg, Helsinki, Paris, Prague, Rome and... way too many others :)

Since returning to Sydney then I've been freelancing, which is great as it means I can set my own rates and also do pro bono work that actually fulfills my needs to do good in the world.

I'm currently working on a children's book, musical and interactive video game combining philosophy and... actually that's a long story.
With the musical we had some great reactions to a shortened version that was performed so now my composer and I just need to finish writing the music! If you're interested, you can see the show's site here.

Oh and linked to me being a lover of writing I actually started and still run Create Together Sydney which started as just running meetups for writers but recently expanded to events for visual artists too!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I can tie a cherry stalk in a knot with my tongue, but have never found a use for this skill due to saturation in the cherry based clown employment field.

I am also particularly skilled at locating and hatching adventures.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm blind in my right eye, but people can rarely tell, so I guess they notice I appear to have two working eyes?

I'm told I'm loud and talk a lot. I'm fairly fashion dyslexic so perhaps it's whatever sartorial cacophony I've decided looks good today?

Books
"We need to make books cool again. If you go home with somebody and they don't have books, don't fuck them." ~ John Waters

Books are hard because there are just way too many, but in a pinch I'd say my favourite series is the Thomas Covenant Chronicles by Stephen Donaldson but my tastes vary widely. Anything by China Miéville, William Gibson, Kurt Vonnegut, Oscar Wilde is a safe bet. Isobelle Carmody will always have a special, unfinished place in my heart.

Films
"She said her favourite
Godard film was Alphaville
and I felt ill..."

I love any movie by Charlie Kaufman, David Lynch or Christopher Nolan. I like early Tarantino and later versions of Blade Runner. I love Godard, Truffaut and Kurosawa but am equally happy watching a Disney musical. Currently overly obsessed with Wings of Desire, a German film that, despite inspiring the remake starring Nicholas Cage called City of Angels, is actually brilliant.

TV
"I hate television. I hate it as much as peanuts. But I can't stop eating peanuts." ~ Orson Welles

I'm most definitely a TV geek. Dramas like Deadwood, ROME, Girls, Breaking Bad, The Good Wife and Boardwalk Empire through to comedies like Flight of the Conchords, 30 Rock, Bob's Burgers and Archer and sci-fi like Doctor Who, Battlestar Galactica and much more are all safe bets. Recent loves include The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Bojack Horseman, Inside Amy Schumer and Orphan Black.

Music
"So control your desire to curse
While I crucify the verse..."

I have fairly eclectic taste in music, but I'd say rock, ska and musicals would be some top recurring categories. You know what's been rocking my socks off right now? The self titled album by San Fermin.

Edit: I'm going to leave the original bit there as San Fermin's first album still consistently leaves my toes exposed but the followup, Jackrabbit, which recently came out is currently on almost constant repeat on my iPod :)

Food
"After a good dinner one can forgive anybody, even one's own relations." ~ Oscar Wilde

I have a preference for asian cooking - especially Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese - but anything with pork is a winner usually. Brazilian BBQ is a favourite and if you like great burgers and fried chicken I know the best place in Sydney. ;)

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The internet and the future of media, ideas for short stories, novels and theatre, what drives people to do what they do, the nature of happiness and many, many other things...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
While I've happily been in long term monogamous relationships, I'm equally down with polyamory (although not with fact the word mixes Greek and Latin roots) and more non-traditional setups.

I describe myself as polyamorous and am a big believer in ethical non-monogamy, although I'm trying to get people to use the shortened name, Eth Non-Monog, for no reason other than the fact it sounds like a Lovecraftian monster.

It doesn't mean I'm just looking for sex, nor does it mean that I am the kind of guy who cheats, far from it. It just means I am comfortable with both myself and my partners sleeping with and dating other people as long as there's openness and honesty on all sides and everybody concerned is cool with it :)
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You're aware of the basic relative proportions of the sun and earth, or perhaps you'd like to join my kitten and I on our daily stroll?

I like telling, and collecting, stories, so if nothing else message me if you're keen to swap some. Terribly cheesey jokes are good too, like:

"Did you hear about the cheese factory that blew up in France? They're still going through de-Brie!"
