I am unprissy, freckly, and scootilicious.

My Self-Summary

I'm a single professional women living in Tacoma. I'm looking to meet interesting people who like being active. I enjoy "doing" stuff and trying new things. I'm ready to grown into a person who truly embraces change and the differences amongst us.

I love my hometown. As a city, Tacoma is evolving. There is more to do and see than ever before. We have museums, beautiful parks, great waterfront, dining (both fine and quirky), art and history. There is much to explore as well as much I could show somebody interested in learning more.

What I’m doing with my life

Hopefully I'm living it. A friend once asked me if I was afraid to die. I replied, "No, I am not afraid to die...I am afraid of not having lived."

So I try to make sure I'm living. I bought a motor scooter last spring and love touring around town on it. I volunteer with my local zoo and can occasionally be found feeding the puffins their mid-day meal or teaching the visitors about sharks during their feed. I recently took a class learning to use a Holga plastic camera to take black and white photos...real film, folks. Remember that?

I like to try new things...sometimes they stick.

I’m really good at

I am really good at learning new things. It's one of my greatest joys in life. There is nothing a new challenge to inspire and motivate me. I love starting a new job where I get to learn new skills, procedures and people.

I am currently teaching at a local technical college. More than any other job, teaching provides me with many opportunities to learn. Each one possesses different strengths and stories. As I teach them, they also teach me.

The first things people usually notice about me

Gosh, I don't know...

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books, oh so many...I don't think I could even begin to list them. Recent memorable ones...I just finished reading "Fledgling" by Octavia Butler. She puts a very thought provoking spin on vampire lore; "Cryptonomicon" by Neal Stephenson. One of the chewiest books I've ever reading, it's like candy for encryption and code geeks as well enthusiasts of James Bond-like stories; "Zoe's Tale" by John Scalzi. Nothing overly deep, but a great story by an author who writes much like Heinlein did in his day.

Movies...all time faves: Contact, A League of Their Own, The American President, Independence Day, and anything with Katherine Hepburn.

Music...I am a sucker for the female singer/songwriter. Love the Indigo Girls, Brandi Carlile, Dar Williams, the Waifs, the Wailin' Jennies, Melissa Ferrick, Neko Case, Sarah Bettens, Jen Cass and so many more. I like other music, too, but I always seem to come back the chick singers.

Food...oh, chocolate for sure. Thai food, bread, sweet potato fries (hell french fries period), blackberries, apple pie, french toast, beef stew, roasted chicken, tortellini, tuna casserole, etc., etc., etc.

On a typical Friday night I am

Often I am out with friends at least early in the evening. By Fridays I can be pretty tired, so I am not opposed to staying in and reading either. It really just depends on what's going on.

You're willing to be gentle with my heart, generous with your experience and willing to make new memories.
