...long winded way of saying I'm a work in progress, and will always be. I'm a man of firm convictions...but open mind. Of learning...but awareness of my ignorance. I prefer to focus on likes over dislikes...to think in terms of solutions, rather than problems...to imagine what can be, rather than what can't...to enjoy the journey, rather than be impatient for the destination.
...and to find things to chuckle over, ideally with good company, all along the way. :)
Vague enough of a summary for you? ;) Perhaps the answers below will give you more insight...and if you like what you see so far, try comparing some of our "The Two of Us" entries...lots of musings and elaborations to be found there. :)
...and no, I don't typically look quite the way I appear in my picture, it's true (for example, my eyes actually focus quite nicely, thank you). I've been stalked a couple of times, though, so am a wee bit leery of posting more pics here. Hopefully this capture by a friend of my impromptu Hulk imitation will do for the moment (and give you some idea of the silliness ahead of you should you opt to say hello) -- once we've gotten to know one another a bit, if you'd like to see more of me, just ask. :)
Working hard, in management consulting...some travel, some long hours, but the challenge and rewards of making positive differences are worth it to me.
Making it a priority to spend good time with my 7-year-old daughter, who is, of course, the smartest, cutest, sweetest girl in all space and time. ...and will probably leave her dad in the dust by the time she's 8 or 9. Look out, world!
Reading often, for relaxation, for learning, for growing, for sharing. Pondering going back for a PhD...but in the meanwhile, trying to consume the contents of several degrees while deciding what I want to do if I grow up.
Playing, exploring, rediscovering the world around me and the joys it holds...and loving it.
Looking to make a difference, to leave the world a better place than I found it.
...okay, that's Monday. On Tuesday, there's... ;)
Sharing and supporting.
Laughing at life's absurdities...and seeing so very many of them.
Teasing, double entendres, and creative usage of ellipses and the word *CENSORED*. ;)
And my voice. And my ever-present yet understated sense of humor. And my predilection to abuse sentence fragments...and ellipses. And that when I look at them...I *look* at them.
I also tend to have rather broad tastes, and enjoy trying new things, so...quite simply, if you look to this entry for reasons to filter someone out as a match...I'm sure I'll like something you don't, so you can move along. But if you look here for things we might have in common...we will. Let's find out what they are.
Very keen on psychology, sociology, game theory, win-win scenarios, words, linguistics...basically, people and how we think and interact with one another.
Words and numbers, and all the amazing things they can do, separately and together...especially when they reflect the thoughts, attitudes and behaviors of people -- we are an amazing species, indeed.
The future...mine, my family's, our society's, our world's, our planet's. Environmentally conscious -- trying to sort the realities from the sound bites, to determine what most needs emphasis for positive change...and looking for opportunities to make small changes in the meanwhile.
Definitely helps if you like puns. Silly ones, sly ones, oblique ones...ahh, the joys of the crime of punishment...
To put it right on the table -- I'm looking for the love of my life. For someone to appreciate, to challenge and be challenged by, share with, grow with, be passionate with, change the world with...and just kick back and enjoy some giggles with, too. If you're not looking for the *possibility* of long-term relationship with full commitment (and with me, that's a package deal, daughter and all...though I'm definitely looking for a partner, not a mommy)...let me know, and we can focus on exploring friendship, instead. :)
Oh, and if you happen to know of a restaurant, bar, farmer's market, art showing, concert, karaoke, CSA, or event in Chicago (especially around my stomping grounds between West Rogers Park and Lincoln Square) that you'd highly recommend...I'd love to hear about it. I'm just starting to explore this wonderful city I'm in, and welcome all the jump starts I can get!
And while communication can certainly proceed effectively even without perfect spelling and grammar...efforts in these areas are always appreciated. And high ratings, while kind, can be a little hard to read if not accompanied by any message; no need to be shy, go ahead and say hi!
