What brings me here? I haven't the foggiest notion. Being on the
cusp between the arcane and the futuristic, I venture to think that
the "old fashioned way" isn't working for me. Some call me a gentle
giant. Some call me a wild man. Some call me Robert(alter ego).
Armchair philosopher, collector of records, beast of burden for the
Swedish, observer, community member, bass player, imbiber,
treasured trash man, joker, smoker, cynic, Midwest transplant,
believer, ad nauseum....
What I’m doing with my life
Building my career, thinking about legacy, collecting the shit out
of some records and loving this city for it's bounty. I've been
here for 5 years which technically makes one a Portlander, I think.
Trying to ride Gertrude more(my ugly bike), now that the weather is
nice. Getting the Meatball™ running and street legal so I can get
some camp vibes. Learning to woodcarve. Starting to write songs
again and be inspired. Setting goals to experience culture on many
fronts. Making friends. Hanging with family. Nerding out and
considering the idea of living alone. A whole new world...
I’m really good at
Making people laugh(at or with). And I mean MAKING(fist shake
emoticon)! I play the bass and I play it semi-well. Cooking.
Walking. My patience is legendary. Being a fashion don't. I'm not
good at summaries of myself in this respect. Ya gotta leave
something to chance and mystery, ya know?
The first things people usually notice about me
My height/wit ratio. My tattoos. All this hair. How my shyness
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books-History, Reference, Music, Biographies, Autobiographies, etc.
I have read many things in the realm of fiction and just have had
my fill for now. I've been in a non-fiction holding pattern for
about 8 years.
Movies-There is not a movie in existence that I will NOT give a
chance to. Good, Bad, & Ugly-I watch them all. Love docs the
most though. But am up for any amount of cheese on any given day.
So much so that my taste is questioned at times. Ha!
Shows-youtube, Gordon Ramsay, recently Game of Thrones, Pee Wee
Herman, old cartoons, Food Network, PBS. Not a lot of TV(How
Music-the first love of my life. I am and will always be rock n'
roller. Take that as you will. I love records and I love
discovering obscure & unknown bits and bobs. Here is a list of
genres: 50's, Garage, Psych, japrock, krautrock, Soul, Funk,
Hip-Hop, Old Country, Old Blues, Fucking Metal, Doom, Drone,
Experimental, Punk, Pop, etc. Church of Misery, Devo, Syl Johnson,
Porter Wagner, QOTSA, and a bunch of one album bands this month.
Music rules my brain.
Food-I am a proud member of the Clean Plate Club. No tofu though.
Put a Mr. Yuck sticker on that shit.
The six things I could never do without
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My mind is a multi-angled chaos machine. I think about work quite a
bit, but when I'm not there I think about bettering myself
personally. I ponder my procrastinations, ambitions, appetites, and
whether or not I should continue to cuss so much(cussing wins,
every fucking time). Sacrificing one vice for another. And records.
Too much to translate here.
On a typical Friday night I am
Finding some classification of entertainment or mind
clearing/erasing activity to shed the stresses(good and bad) of a
work week. Be it a show, a movie, a new restaurant, or playing
records and reading.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I once got shaved by an elephant.
You should message me if
You have the stones to. I'm not here to win a contest; just to meet
somebody interesting. Special bonus for kitsch, records, crafty,
funny, smart asses.
