STORY TIME

The boy sat straight and upright as he stared in pure fantastical anticipation at the golden fortune cookie that lay before him.
'Oh what great wonders it could hold for me' he thought to himself.
'The chance of real love, joy and content'.
He could wait no longer, for the hysteria was intolerable.
He raised his fist high above the glorious cookie of fortune....
BAM!
He smashed the cookie open, and frantically scrambled through the broken pieces to try and find the oh so importunate fortune.
'Where is it!?'
'Where is it!?'
'Where is it!?' he screamed.
'Where is my fortune?!'

The realisation set in. There was no fortune. The cookie was empty.
His mind began racing with detrimental thoughts.
'What does this mean? do i hold no fortune? will i be overcome by misfortune, or worse, Death?'
A tear rolled from his cheek and dripped onto the shattered fragments of biscuit that had so cruelly thwarted him.
'Why, oh why, oh why'
His Mother had been startled by the commotion and rushed to the kitchen.
'Son, what on earth is the matter?' she asked.
'I have no fortune. the cookie, it was empty' he whimpered.

She smiled. The kind of smile that could light a thousand night sky's
'Shhh, you don't know how lucky you are' she gleamed as she crouch beside him and placed her arm across his shoulders.

'Listen...for a felicitous few like you, my boy, the fortune cookie is empty'
'These luckless few can forge their own fates, for they have more freedom over their destinies than the powers themselves. Now YOU can make it happen'
