I am funny, political, and honest.

My Self-Summary

Everything's new.... I've been through a lot of changes, and I'm new to WI, new to dating (again), new job, so I won't talk about where I've been. I want NEW. There are probably a thousand things I've never discovered, and maybe a hundred I 'd love. The only anchors are politics (I'm way left of most people, and like it there), and my two boys (my sons -- what did you THINK I meant :) ).

Let's see.... I prefer beaches to snow, reading to watching tv (but I never miss The Daily Show), 70s music to the newer stuff, coke to ice tea, hockey to football, and walking to riding, girls' best friend to man's best friend. I'm a big fan of old radio, and I'd rather listen to Lux Radio Theatre than watch the movie. I prefer Nordstroms to Marshalls. Nah. Just kidding. I like Marshalls. I'm low maintenance. You guys can start breathing again.

What I’m doing with my life

Being Alice: I'm running as fast as I can, just to stay in place.

I write software, help teach people to use some esoteric software products (that means travel which I am VERY ambivalent about), fix computers, ferry kids around, do a little teaching just to keep myself busy (HAH!), and I leap tall buildings in a single bound. OK, all but one of those things.

And I recently ran a marathon. Well, not all at once. Does two miles a week for 13 weeks count? :)

I’m really good at

Making people laugh, if you thought the marathon line was funny. If not, I'm really good at thinking I'm really good at making people laugh.

I'm going to bed now. My head is starting to hurt.

The first things people usually notice about me

Um, I think I'd rather talk about the SECOND thing people notice about me. :)

This is an interesting question ~ I'm not sure I can know what other people notice about me. If I had a huge zit or third eye, or aquamarine hair, I'd know. My baby blue eyes, maybe?

It might be something that's not even part of me. Maybe it's my earrings or shoes or my Jaguar. Well, he's really more of a kitten.

Or maybe it's my HUGE pair of

birdcages (I have parrots).

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: I'm a BIG science fiction fan, mostly more "classic" like HG Wells, Verne, Clarke, Asimov, Bradbury, Heinlein, Niven.... But I'm always open to new ones.
Movies: I can't think of any recent movies I really like. I liked Airplane!, M*A*S*H, Catch 22, Dr Strangelove (are you seeing a pattern?), Pelham 1-2-3 (the original), Jaws, Star Wars, Vertigo, Deathtrap, Sleuth, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Jurassic Park, the old Road movies.... If tv was the internet, TCM would be my home page.
Music: folk and mid-to-hard rock. I really like late 60s and 70s music. I cried when I heard about Mary Travers. Jackson Browne, Phil Ochs, Steppenwolf, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Dan Bern, Leonard Cohen, and, um, you'll know if you know who Cassidy is. :)
Food: I'm not really a food fan. I eat to stop being hungry. I stop eating because there are some dresses I really like and I really want to be able to wear them again. :)

The six things I could never do without

1. my boys
2. coffee
3. my girlfriends
4. pedicures. LOVE a good pedicure.
5. music
6. my privacy

In no order.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

What a chair would look like if our knees bent the other way.

Also how I can make an impact in the world, and leave it better than I found it. And if I'm the best parent I can be and why not? And how I can live more simply and efficiently.

See? I'm not always an idiot. :)

On a typical Friday night I am

at home with the boys. Sorry. Once they're more comfortable in the new house and city... who knows?

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'd flash my thong at Bill Clinton. :)

You should message me if

I dunno. Just don't write hi or hey or something. Get my attention and I'll answer if I'm on or write later if I'm not, OK? But I often ignore the one-word IMs.

And tell me a secret. I LOVE secrets. :)
