*working on getting some more recent/better pictures*

Well what can I say? I'll probably put something up here now, and remember later what I was really going to put up; long after I log off. So this will likely be expanded... I feel odd writing about myself anyway; it always seems like I'm leaving so much out. The best way to get to know me is to talk to me, so give it a shot.
To start off, my name is Shannon.
I'm a bit of a hybrid [besides the fact that I'm a European mutt]. I don't really fit into any group. I have my nerd brain, but don't look like a nerd [I hope, anyway]. I can sit there listening to metal, but think in Russian while working out long equations.
Anyway, other than academic persuits, I'm really into music, but I'm not picky. If it sounds good, listen to it. But I'm not one of those people who constantly have headphones on, so don't worry, I will actually hear you if you say something. I've found that since some people are die-hard into one specific kind of music, I get along with many different kinds of people. I'm into a wide range of movies too. I'd also like to start seriously learning how to play guitar. I know a couple songs, but that's... about... it. I also love to sing & I will sometimes do it out of nowhere, especially when I'm in a good mood.

I went to college to study Russian during high school for a bit. I'm a sucker for languages [& their accents] & I'll study any one I can get my hands on. Also any kind of science.
I'm very interested in physical anthropology, and right now I'm reading into a lot of pathology. I'm also a nerd when it comes to chemistry. I dunno, something about finding how many moles of HCl are in 49.482 grams is interesting to me. Call me crazy.
Basically right now I'm aiming for something in those fields.

Not sure. Physically, alot of people comment on my eyes when they first see me. And my smile. Otherwise, they say I'm more talkative than I seem [I have my quiet times]. But you'd really have to ask other people what they think, I can't speak for them.

Books: Harry Potter, The Bartimaeus Trilogy, Cold Mountain, Grey's Anatomy [the anatomical bible, not the dramatic tv show] and far too many more to list right now

Movies: Grindhouse, Lord of the Rings, Saw, Resident Evil, Shaun of the Dead, Twilight [don't worry, I'm not one of those uber-fangirls who squeak whenever they hear "Edward"], Sweeney Todd, Pineapple Express, and lots more

TV: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, The L Word, Charmed, CSI, Supernatural, Six Feet Under

Music: don't even get me started. Basically everything from P!nk to Sinead O'Connor to t.A.T.u. to Enya to Robert Johnson [yes, the bluesman, back from when they were first figuring out how to record music]. If you ever take a road trip with me, you'll figure it out pretty quickly from the sudden change in music: we could be listening to upbeat & delightfully cheesy "Everytime We Touch" by Cascada and then it'll be the mellow "Tales of Brave Ulysses" by Cream.

Food: I am known to try anything. Apparently I'd been fed hot Chinese food as a baby, which potentially burned off the majority of my taste buds, so I love hot & strong foods. Sushi is awesome, and I love the Italian garlic noodles I make sometimes. I like to cook, and if I had more time, I'd probably cook any recipe that looks interesting.

& there are usually at least 3 different songs stuck in my head.

Hanging out with my friends or staying in for movies. But my weekends are pretty atypical. I could be dancing it up or uneventfully regenerating from the week. A cappuccino and a good book need not be underrated.

I can be shy at first sometimes, but it doesn't take me long to get comfortable.

I always trusted people completely until they gave me a reason not to [on an individual basis], but I've been lied to and cheated on quite a bit, so it may take me a bit longer than usual to start trusting people.

You think I seem interesting or would like to get to know me. Or if you live in my area and want to hang out. Or, if you're excruciatingly bored and have nothing better to do.
