My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I like to view life from oblique angles. I'm interested in where people don't go, in what they don't say, in when we weren't there (In other words, I like history). I am not always a passionate man; I am more often a thinker, a contemplater, and a listener. That said, I am far from a passive observer: I have run out of gas in an abandoned town, traversed the country with little to my name and had the boots put to me (liberally) by a Paraguayan black belt. Experience is precious to me, moreso if shared with someone else.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Aside from the obvious (work, hanging, etc), I write a blog to work on my writing and general musing, train in karate to do the same with my body, and try to plug away at my reading list. Hang-gliding and community theater are on my future to-do list, in no particular priority.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
The written word is my ally more often than not (autocorrect aside), though I like to think i'm pretty good at speaking too-I've been known to give a nerdy talk or two over at Lucid in the U-District.

Speaking of, i'm a nerd for star wars, video games, comics and genre fiction in no particular order and can go on at length with brethren, but you won't hear a peep of it from me if you don't care. Not a big proselytizer!

I'm also a pretty swell cook, I think, and decent at MacGuyvering solutions to inane problems. I once used a wine bottle for a rolling pin on short notice when I realized I didn't have one.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Anything by Gene Wolfe as a general thing, but his New Sun series is the one of the few things I consistently re-read. Sci-Fi and Fantasy are my jam for fiction, History and Psychology for non-fiction.

Films: Too many to list, so i'll just say I love good ones, hate bad ones and know both when I see them. I try hard to enjoy movies I pay for, but the older I get the less I can ignore their flaws.

Music: Pretty superfluous to me, and i'm perennially behind most of the big TV shows except for Game of Thrones. I'd probably watch more at someone else's behest!

Favorite food is probably German for its earnestness (Meat, potatoes, i'm there) but i'll try most anything once.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Books, Intellect, Scotch, Good Shoes, Friends and Entropy.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Future-ish stuff, life after 30. Better than life after 20, I think.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Depends. I try to take swing dance lessons on Friday, but it's often co-opted by friends or other random events that kick off at the same time.
