I am a reasonably evolved male, a good listener and an attentive person. I'm fun and reliable at the same time. I can navigate New York competently but I'm also quite at home in an exotic third world locales and I can make sure we survive if we get thrown into the wilds. (Not that I'm pushing for that as a first date.)

I have an interesting job and life and would love to share that with a special someone and also share in her life.

I work. I have a job. I have a career. I have a vocation. Its all one. I spend a lot of time at it. Travel to interesting places for research or to teach. Try hard. Care about my students. Operate on inspiration. Push myself to emotional and intellectual limits. Run in the park. Some days I just want to go to the museum and revel in great ideas and creativity.

My beard. My cool glasses. That I speak intelligently. My good manners, hopefully.

So many that delight. I can only start a list of recent reads. The underrated Freedom, maybe the "great American novel" of my generation. Gone Girl, pure fun. A Tale of Two Cities, in the original Dickens weekly installment. Everything is Illuminated. Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter. Jeffrey Toobin's latest book on the Supreme Court--The Oath. Lets hope Roberts doesn't flub it at this inauguration.

I'm always working a mystery and my latest "can't wait till the next one comes out" is John Vernon's series on a retired NYC detective in the Catskills. Lets just say his wife is very annoyed because she was hoping to get away for a quiet life of gardening and cooking.

I read deeper, more serious things too, but the trifles come to mind. My OKC code name emanates from my simultaneously joining and embarking on a three volume biography of Winston Churchill--The Last Lion.

Jazz, "Classical"--really all "art" music (love the Miller Theater series). Basically a Beethoven to the Beatles guy like Jennifer Cavaleri.

Movies--so many. Kieslowski, Goddard, and Netflix.
