I am intelligent, honest, and curious.
My Self-Summary
To start with the 'technical' stuff, I work as a
software engineer. I love to
travel, expand my
horizons, and always
learn and experience new things. I also
have some interest in
computers and
technology (not too surprisingly
based on my background, I guess),
linguistics,
reading,
music,
photography, and the rest of the
usual suspects. I also enjoy (non-computer)
games: board games, card games,
role playing games and
other forms of interactive fiction.
Basically, I find myself touching many different fields and
interests, which makes me not specializing too much in most of
them, so I'm "ok" in a lot of them but "good" in only a few.
I highly values the qualities of
honesty and
intellect and a good
sense of humor. There's
nothing I like more than a clever/witty personality, and there's
nothing that turns me off more than arrogance and selfishness. I
can appreciate
art,
and appreciate artists even more, possibly since a real artistic
talent is something that eludes me.
What I’m doing with my life
Well, apart from working full time, I'm trying to find time to meet
my friend and family and pursue my hobbies, which is probably not
as trivial as it sounds.
I've recently finished my M.Sc so am searching for my next
undertaking... Welcoming ideas.
I’m really good at
My job (I think...), Listening (even though in its simplest form it
only requires the ability to shut-up), and understanding other
people's POVs, putting myself 'in their shoes' so to speak, even
when I completely disagree with them, and coming up with useless
trivia related to any random conversation.
The first things people usually notice about me
Actually, that's something I quite curious about. What IS the first
thing that people notice about me? In general, I tend to feel like
it takes time before they notice anything 'substantial' so I guess
the answer here would probably be something quite
superficial.
Perhaps the best answer I can give here, which may or may not be
the case, is that I tend to be relatively soft spoken.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
It's difficult to say, actually, as my tastes are quite wide and
change often. Still, I'll give here a short sample of things that I
like, not necessary my favorites...
(A) Books: The Chronicles of Amber,
Slaughterhouse Five, City,
Making History, The Far Side (does that really count as a book?),
עולם הסוף
(B) Movies: 2001 (a classic), A Beautiful Mind, The Usual Suspects,
Fight Club, The Princess Bride (is that one a cliche already?),
Princess Mononoke (the obligatory anime).
(C) Music: I can find something to listen in almost any music
Genres. One group that manages to stay in my ever changing 'top 10'
list is
They Might Be Giants.
Recently I took a liking to artists such as
Cat Power,
Regina Spektor, Joan as Police
Woman and Jenny Owen Youngs.
(D) Food: Thai, Japanese, Italian, Mexican and lately - Indian.
The six things I could never do without
Computers (again, not a big surprise), a job that I enjoy, my
closest friends, books, travel, and some time alone every now and
then.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Can be anything like trying to polish my views on "what is reality"
to thinking out clever replies to discussions that already ended a
week ago (a la George Costanza) totrying to remember 'what's the
name of that actor, you know who.. the one that was with that
brunette actress in that movie with the airplane'
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
That I have a facebook account.
You should message me if
I'm not really sure what I'm looking for here, so feel free to
message me if you think it'd be interesting for us to talk or meet,
or for any other reason.
