I am loving life, active, and smart.

My Self-Summary

I am an open, fun-loving, and sincere guy who likes be around people. I enjoy hanging out with my friends either around Portland or in the middle of nowhere. I am looking for a woman that is independent, knows what she wants, and is fun to be around. I am not looking for someone that I can marry tomorrow, but rather for someone with long-term potential. My life going great; it's fantastic. I am looking for that rare woman that has the ability to make it even better. Please, no crazies or gIrLs ThAt TaLk LiKe ThIs.

I like intelligent conversation. I like talking about current events, social issues, politics, environmental, and other topics.

I am an Oregon transplant that moved out here from Wisconsin after I graduated college. Wisconsin is awesome, you should go there on your next vacation. Seriously.

What I’m doing with my life

For money: I am an electrical engineer who works at a consultant firm. Basically, I keep your lights on; you should thank me. I work for clients all around the West Coast. But don't despair! Even though I am an engineer, a lot of people skills I have

For fun: I enjoy hiking, backpacking, biking, running, snowshoeing, basically almost anything outside. I also like to play sports. Several I am decent at (this may be an exaggeration) but one I am great at: bowling. I bowl quite a bit; you will have to share me with the other love of my life. Sorry, bowling was first. We tried to breakup but both of us were miserable and decided it was best if we stayed together but had an open relationship. I really cooking; I enjoy it even more when I cook for/with other people.

For others: I volunteer with Engineers Without Borders. I feel it is important to give back to society. EWB helps to design and implement life-sustaining systems around the world for impoverished communities. Through EWB, I have traveled to Africa (Tanzania) twice. My adventures there have been priceless, eye-opening, and have changed the way I have viewed life.

I’m really good at

figuring out what I want and achieving it.

The first things people usually notice about me

not sure, but if I had to guess:

my eyes (hazel) or my height (6 feet)

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Into Thin Air; Against All Enemies; The Hatchet; Life of Pi; a bunch of others

Movies: Tuesdays With Morrie; Mr. Holland's Opus; Dodgeball; Office Space (it's WAY too applicable to my office, unfortunately not the baseball bat to the copier though); Butterfly Effect

Music: Owl City; Postal Service; Depeche Mode; 90s R&B; Bob Marley; Linkin Park; Switchfoot; Burlap to Cashmere; Coldplay; Eagles; Creed; Snow Patrol (the concert on Oct. 13th was great!)

Food: Italian; German; recently, Tanzanian; and breakfast

The six things I could never do without

besides oxygen??

Ah, let's see:
bowling - I get cranky if I haven't bowled in a while, see above
enlightening and intelligent conversation - I like learning new things
summer and winter - I love the seasons
friends and family - my family and friends are amazing
good new tunes (aka pandora) - who doesn't like good music?
the outdoors - the outdoors is always so peaceful

I spend a lot of time thinking about

renewable energy - renewable energy is hot
what I am going to have for dinner tonight - seriously, doesn't this go through everyone's mind?
my future house - I've been looking for one to buy for about two months now, haven't quite found it yet.

On a typical Friday night I am

having fun with friends, hanging with the roomies, or laying low.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I drive a car to work. I know, I know, in Portland Culture this is a really, really bad thing. I feel like I should go hug a tree in my backyard everyday to make up for it.

You should message me if

My ideal mate would be someone who is a non-smoker, takes care of herself in mind and body, willing to try new things, active (preferably doing stuff outside), has a general concern for others, has a good sense humor. But most importantly, one who is succeeding in life based on her own goals.

I am NOT looking for someone to complete me. Nor do I want someone that wants me to complete her. I want a relationship where two individuals are exploring and figuring out life together.

If you think you might be a good match, send me a shout! :)
