I am misinformed, simple, and noblewinged.

My Self-Summary

I just graduated from school, where I was a math major, and I went on to computer science at UCSD. But I decided I wanted to go in another direction, so I quit, and I've been writing since then. I will be applying to MFA programs this fall, hopefully that will work out.

What I’m doing with my life

Writing, mostly.

Tutoring little ones on the side.

I’m really good at

...

I like to think I'm good at Settlers of Catan, an awesome game if there ever was one.

The first things people usually notice about me

I would be really interested to know what people first notice about me because I have no idea.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books -- Invisible Cities, Jesus' Son, Ficciones, Cat's Cradle, Pale Fire, Lolita, Gravity's Rainbow, DFW nonfiction, Philosophical Investigations. Oh and I love Dick, Philip K. that is. (I feel like I'm not the first person to make that joke)

Movies -- Blue Velvet, Taxi Driver, Vertigo, 8 1/2, Suspiria (Tenebre perhaps is better Dario Argento, but Suspiria has a soft spot in my heart) ... John Carpenter's the Thing, Aguirre the Wrath of God, Nosferatu(silent but I like the remake too), Duck Soup, most 60's Godard, All About Eve, Sunset Blvd, The Empire Strikes Back, Metropolis, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Dawn of the Dead(Romero), Los Olvidados, 2001, ... I could go on, I think maybe movies were my first love.

Music -- For some reason I've listened to a lot of Sleater-Kinney...I guess I like their energy. Radiohead, Animal Collective, Beethoven, Frightened Rabbit, Black Star,... I'm pretty fond of rap actually.

The six things I could never do without

1. A Ladle (for soup)

2. An impeccably procured handlebar mustache

3. My banjo, which I play with plenty of folksy charm

4. My patent for a new type of cough medicine, which is a swindle

5. Drinking moonshine and dancing a jig

6. 'Old Round Charlie' -- my gold panning pan, who brings back the crushing disappointment of my prospecting days

I spend a lot of time thinking about

stories, literature...

I'll be honest I still like thinking about mathematics, theoretical physics, and philosophy...

I was obsessed with that stuff when I was in school...

Ok, I'll admit I'm a pretty big nerd.

You should message me if

you have some of the same interests?

I don't know... it's really up to you.
