I am Laid-back, Smart, and Witty.
My Self-Summary
**I have noticed a pattern in comparing my profiles to just about
anyone on this site that I'm more into drugs and more violent. I
don't get this. I also don't understand why I have the "more
greedy" emblem at the bottom. I mean...if you dare steal from me I
will cut you (especially if you steal my money or
drugs)...but isn't that everyone?
I'm not quite sure why I'm supposed to
highlight interests other
than to make them
fancy colors and to
humor myself, speaking of
which,
humoring
myself happens to be one of my primary
activities - I often
multi-task by
humoring myself while doing
all those other things I
have to do such as
graduate school and my
part-time
job. However, I much prefer to
humor others by making
smart-ass comments
at
inopportune
times and
mocking
or impersonating mutual acquaintances.
Reading that over it totally makes me out to be either way
funnier/cooler than I actually am or an asshole. I'll let you be
the judge.
Truth time:
I'm overwhelmed by school which means I'm usually avoiding it until
the next deadline rears its ugly head.
I hate to clean so my apartment is always a mess.
I'm constantly trying to find social activities that don't require
bars or just sitting around and drinking, which usually means I'm
dragging my friends to the art museum or movies (I'm open to
suggestions!!).
I'm a morning person so I'm usually tired when everyone else is
ready for a night on the town and when I'm stoked to start my day
everyone else is still asleep.
I like to exercise and I keep working my way up to running a 5k and
then losing momentum - sadly it's hard to keep the routine without
some sort of workout partner.
I'm the person my friends usually call when they're upset and need
someone who is going to either listen, give good advice, or crack
enough stupid jokes to make them feel better.
I love to dance and would really like to find a partner to get back
into ballroom.
I'm originally from Florida, and while I'm learning to like
Wisconsin more and more, I miss my family and old friends a lot -
especially on those days when I just need a hug.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm starting my 4th year in the Clinical Psychology PhD program at
UWM. I'm finally at the point where I actually get to work with
clients and help them with their lives, which is awesome.
I also work part time as a landscaper to make some extra money. One
day a million years from now when I'm done with school and
officially a grown-up with my own house (or a condo with a big
balcony) I'm totally going to have the best lawn/garden ever!
I’m really good at
Avoiding. Especially avoiding answering questions that I don't want
to answer. ;)
The first things people usually notice about me
It depends - probably the top five are: smile, eyes, boobs,
confidence, height.
**Of course, these may vary in order (and some might well be
repeated) depending on the gender of the person noticing me and how
low the neckline is on my shirt...and I'm pretty sure this is the
same for every girl on the planet despite how much I'd like to
think I'm special.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: Stuff about radical behaviorism and/or psychology (reading a
lot of treatment manuals lately), books on gardening or cooking,
and, though I'm a bit embarrassed to admit it, I've started to
enjoy reading "chick lit" lately. What can I say? It's nice to read
some smutty trashy girly crap once in a while. ;)
Movies (to name but a few): The Watchmen, The Usual Suspects, LA
Confidential, Iron Man, Batman Begins, Steel Magnolias, Rear
Window, History of the World Part I, Fletch, Rocky Horror Picture
Show, Shoot 'Em Up, Caddyshack, The Incredible Hulk (Ed Norton, NOT
Eric Bana), Hot Fuzz, Monty Python anything, and I'm completely
addicted to netflix so the list is expanding on a regular
basis.
Music: I'm not hip. I listen to a lot of old music and occasionally
popular current stuff if it has a good beat to run to with a dash
of foreign/ethnic stuff for dancing. If you're really into music I
would probably annoy you - I just listen to what I like and I like
what I listen to.
Growing up, my parents and I would listen to the oldies station and
sing along, loudly and poorly, in the car and the habit is still
with me even when I drive by myself. Yeah, that girl that looked
ridiculous singing in the car next to you on I-94 yesterday...that
was me.
TV shows (because it should be an option, dammit!): The Mentalist,
House MD, So You Think You Can Dance, Mental, The L Word, and
Dollhouse. I get most of them online, though, so don't let this
list lead you to believe I'm chained to the TV on a regular
basis.
Food: my favorite food is Free (let's face it, I'm still a
student). My second favorite is anything I haven't eaten before -
the weirder the better. I am a very adventurous eater and love
eating food from different cultures.
The six things I could never do without
Sunshine
Friends and Family
Coffee
Gardening (even if it's just houseplants)
Cooking
My cat - he kills varmints so I don't have to
I spend a lot of time thinking about
School.
What I'll do when I grow up.
What I'll do if I don't ever grow up.
What's the minimum amount of cleaning I have to do for my apartment
to be acceptable for company.
How am I ever going to pay back my student loan debt.
...to hell with all of it, I just wanna' dance.
On a typical Friday night I am
...not doing anything typical. Sometimes I'm out at a bar,
sometimes just playing rock band at a friend's house, sometimes I'm
too exhausted from working and hit the sack early, sometimes I'm at
a movie, sometimes I'm still at school finishing up before a
deadline, sometimes I'm just watching TV on my couch with my cat
curled up in my lap. Typically I'm a creature of habit, but it
appears that has not spread to my Friday nights.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I'm a bit of a comic book nerd. If I had the money, I would have an
ever expanding collection of Red Sonja and Wonder Woman comics, as
well as anything by Alan Moore. However, I don't have the money, so
I'm more of a comic-book-nerd poser, which is just a little bit
sad.
You should message me if
...you're bored.
...you, too, are avoiding things right now.
...you think I'm cute.
...you think I'm funny.
...you think I'm cute AND funny. (score!)
...you read something about me that you find interesting.
...you read something that you find incredibly offensive and are
compelled to tell me how offended you are (but if you're not nice
don't expect a response).
...you lost a bet and you have to.
...you won a bet and you get to!
...you're having trouble with your lawn and need landscaping
advice.
...you enjoy eating good home-cooked southern food (my
specialty).
...you like to ballroom dance and need a partner.
...you want to, for any reason.
