My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
When I'm with my friends I can be funny and twisted, but I respect peoples' sensibilities. I'm seriously fun-loving, but I work when it's time to work.

I write every day. I've done this all my life. I love working with words. I think of myself as a word artist. I don't do things a certain way just because that's how everone else does it. I do things the right way. I see the Rules as just sort of a general suggestion. I write novels. My first one was published as an ebook in 11. I don't do anything to be mediocre. Anything creative--writing, music, programming, cooking--I do it to kick ass if possible.

I love good books and movies and cable TV. Going to the movies is cool, especially at a huge old theater like the Cinerama. I love coffee houses - the ones with an upstairs and bookshelves built into the walls. I worked in a few nice restaurants and I do have some cooking skills. I like to rock. I record albums on my computer. I love jamming experimental loud stuff. I love good food. I brainstorm all these awesome recipes. I like cooking for people. I really relish life when I'm doing fun stuff with good people.

I compose and record songs on my computer and post them on Reverbnation. The music is good enough to get gig offers from club bookers.

I love the smell of the rain.

Things fall apart. The center can not hold. Unless you're with somebody.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I pay the rent working part-time (by choice - they'll give me whatever hours I want). With writing I have two part-time jobs - one is for love, the other is the revenue stream.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Learning things - I have a thirst for knowledge. I learned Visual C# programming so I could develop my own concept games. Programming, to me, is a creative outlet.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Lanky. Big hands. Big feet.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Books: William Gibson, Lolita, The Sound and the Fury, Anne Rice, Margaret Atwood, James Elroy, Charley Huston, Chuck Palanhuik, Irvine Welsh, Nabokov, Faulkner, The Road, No Country For Old Men.

Movies: The original King Kong, Bladerunner, Apocalypse Now, Pulp Fiction, Watchmen, True Romance, Ichi the Killer, Miyazaki, Bride of Frankenstein. I know I'm in a bad movie when I get so bored I can't stop myself from (accurately) predicting the plot and lines of dialogue and even the characters' expressions.

TV: The Shield, Lost, Venture Bros, Metaloclypse, Doctor Who, The Wire, Breaking Bad, Arrested Development.

Music: Beastie Boys (be at peace MCA), Moby, Public Enemy, Portishead, Sonic Youth, Nirvana, Sex Pistols, Husker Du, Mudhoney, Ladytron, Laurie Anderson, Kate Bush, Stones, Beatles, Peter Gabriel, Bowie, Elbow. KEXP - I've been listening to them since 1980 when it was KCMU 90.5. Raw Power. Black Angels - those dudes are Grace Slick singing, Lennon-Harrison guitars, Manzerek keys - and rock.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Hard loud rock. Urban art, graffiti, interesting alt people, handbills, loud punk rock blaring out of the Comet. I've lived on Cap Hill for 20 years and I'm spoiled for these things.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
One of the buildings outside my window is this ugly pile of dull steel during the day, but at night they light it up with these beautiful white lights. It makes it black with white streaks...exactly like a White Russian! I drink White Russians, but only in the winter because they just feel like that to me. And I can only see this building during the winter because the leaves block it when they are extant. Is this magical, or what?

I also think about the fact that on Capital Hill the Iliad Apartments are right across the street from the Troy Apartments. Has anyone else ever noticed this?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
On a typical Saturday I am eating good food, cocktails, watching a great movie. Jamming art/punk rock. Dive bars.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

I hate semicolons - they're flaccid colons.

And.

When I was 18 I started my motorcycle and was waiting for it to warm up and it was sort of a warm day so it seemed cool to go without a helmet, and I swear to God I was sitting there and I FELT A CHILL, so I went back and got the helmet (they're warm).

Some guy cut me off. No way to avoid it. Just popped out in front of me. I got slammed down, dragged along by my bike for a hundred feet. My head popped against the asphalt hard a couple times. I would've been at least brain-damaged without the helmet. Probably dead. I hope I'm not wasting your time.
