My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a slight upgrade on the clichés. Emerging playwright, but with a spiffy, long-titled day job to help pay the bills. Nice, Jewish boy, but with completely iconoclastic leanings. Total nerd, but without all the hipness that carries with it these days. (Okay, the last one is just fair warning.)

I like to spend spare time and cash, when such things exist, on food and culture. I see a ton of theater, and I am game for just about any museum in the city. I can tell you where to get killer cocktails, a great variety of quality burgers, and sushi that won't pose a threat to your wallet or your gullet (to say nothing of a decent Vietnamese, Italian, Thai, French, Filipino, or Ethiopian meal).

Generally speaking, I want to say "yes" to things more than I say "no."
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
to paraphrase e.e. cummings:
I'm singing my didn't and dancing my did

People seemed dissatisfied with the brevity of that answer. Allow me to be more literal:

I write plays. Some people like them, and from time to time, they even perform them. Sadly, you probably haven't heard of any of them, but I'm working on that.

I perform from time time time. Some people like it, but no, you probably haven't seen me do that either. I'm working on that bit, too.

On weekends during the school year, I usually teach ethics to privileged children in Westchester. However, I'm on sabbatical at the moment, and not really enjoying the break. I miss my kids enough that I am probably gonna sign back up for the hour train trip on Sunday mornings next year. It's more rewarding than it sounds.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.

The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
They think they know me. They can't quite place me, but they feel like they've met me before or know this guy that I'm "exactly like." I don't know what any of this says about me, but it's been the case my entire life.

Around this site, they probably notice my complete inability to answer match questions without explaining myself. (Seriously, people, can we get some nuance in these things?)

Dad's a rabbi. Mom's got a degree in social work. So I am very, very (f-ing) well adjusted.

Also, you saw the thing about the show tunes, right?

You're so smart that your wit can cut at thirty paces, but you're so charming, you'd never draw blood with it.

You have a passion in life that is broader than the self and narrower than the world.

You're excited by the notion of a heavily cerebral, very emotional Texas Jew in the city.
