My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm idealistic, a realist, a romantic, in my life that's not a contradiction.

Real love doesn't happen all that often so if I'm lucky enough to find it again, I'd be willing to do whatever it takes.

For me, quirky is good. Someone imperfect, flawed, as am I.

I think I'm easy to talk to because I like to listen. I'm curious about what's happening with my mate, communication is everything. I need someone with whom the connection runs deep. Someone to talk to so simple yet, so elusive.

I enjoy the out of doors which is the main reason I moved to Oregon years ago. I love it here but still miss and am in contact with my old friends. Making new friends is important to me so if it's not love a friendship is always possible.

I'm monogamous and need the same in a partner. I hope to find one woman to share my life, I'm way NOT into the poly thing which i've learned is popular in this town. I'm open minded and can appreciate people of all types but some things just gotta jive.

Politically I'm liberal, sexually straight, and I do not believe I need to accept Jesus as my saviour or I'll burn in hell forever.

I'm not looking for the perfect person as I don't believe that exists, nor would i want someone "perfect" but i would love to find someone who likes being with me as much as I do her, could she be you?
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Living, learning, falling down, getting up, protesting, laughing, riding, biking, walking, dreaming, and breathing.

I already miss Jon Stewart perhaps a little more than I'd care admit.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Communication. I like to think I'm good at it? I've doubted it as here I am, single, writing on a dating website about things i'm good at. I've three longtime friends who all met their wives on websites just like this, two of them did it because i urged them to, funny.

I've already lost my mother, father, and my brother. Also gone are six dear friends who all died from various causes before they reached 50.
Life lessons in empathy. I'm able to be there for others who are suffering or experiencing loss, this doesn't scare me.

I love and appreciate good design and architecture. Organizing my space is innate. I'm a Virgo. Allegedly Virgos are good at these types of things, or so goes the myth. In my life it has way more to do with where I come from, but thats another story...
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Dunno. This is something I've given virtually no thought to and doubt that I will anytime soon.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Oh this is too big, too vast, I'll have to get back to this one.
Books, films, music, my taste is very eclectic, I like most forms of music except country although there are a few exceptions, it goes on ad infinitum.

David Bowie, Lou Reed, and Iggy Pop was were I began, since then my musical tastes have branched out so widely I truly have no idea how to sum it up in a few sentences. Perhaps, world music?

I gave up TV years ago but still have Netflix. I like drama, foreign, or documentaries, if its a good comedy i'm in. Love all things Wes Anderson! I don't tolerate most Hollywood crapola comedies, nor do I seek out films where everything blows up, my favs are films or books that transport me to another place, another time, or give me a glimpse into another reality, stories about real people would be my first choice.

I'm a huge fan of foreign cinema especially films from Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Brasil, Argentina, Japan, South East Asia, I love Ingmar Bergman, Woody Allen, etc etc...
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.

Not six?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I have a 18 year old son who lives in Brasil. He was born there and although I visit him nearly every year, its never enough. Anyone who is a parent can i am sure understand this. Because of him I am eternally connected to Brasil, the Amazon region in particular although now he's in Rio de Janeiro - Cidade Maravilhoso. I do not have any other children so he occupies a great amount of my thoughts. I'm forever wishing we we lived closer.

Triumph Motorcycles and vintage Porsches are my passions. I love my machines, getting them dialed in, and going for a ride through the country preferably towards the coast in search of a sweet spot for a hike or swim or just to enjoy the day. Yes, driving gas powered vehicles (especially for fun) goes against my environmental convictions so I drive less and feel guilty only every other mile.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I might be found at an AA meeting, I've not drank alcohol in about 15 years which for me is a good thing. Perhaps this is a good time to say I need a partner who is good with that. If drinking or drugs are important to you then this won't be a match. I've no problem with someone having a few drinks as long as getting drunk is not the goal. I do not enjoy being around intoxicated people although Hunter S Thompson is one of my favorite authors, chalk that up to nostalgia?

These days I'd likely be watching a film. I have low tolerance for bad cinema but fortunately there's so many amazing movies being made that's never a problem.

Or reading, never enough time to read all i want. Edward Abby is my favorite author, his book Desert Solitaire is perhaps my fav book of all time but thats a tuff call, way too many fine choices...

I'd love to spend evenings/days/weeks/months/years with my partner, I do miss that.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm a romantic who's been hurt and has retreated for perhaps too long. I took myself outta the game, I hate the "game" part of dating, can we skip that part please? I'm not in a hurry though in fact the opposite is true. I prefer being alone to being with someone who isn't right for me or I for her, I am in this, very particular.

I'm GGG (aka Dan Savage) and would love to find the same in my partner. I need someone who's ready for the real thing and who's willing to be patient, work things out, look out for one another, the works! I'd be very happy to never have another break up, that is my private secret fantasy. Wait, is it no longer a secret?
