My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
My best thinking and my best singing both happen in traffic.

I haven't opened a style guide since high school, but it still makes me feel a bit naughty to start a sentence with the word "and."

I don't always drink beer, but when I do it's porters and stouts.

I struggle to balance my desire for more pictures of myself against my hatred for taking them.

And finally, I'm a horror junkie and a voracious reader always looking for cool new media to consume, so an easy way to introduce yourself would be a book or movie suggestion! Bonus points if it's something I've never heard of before.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
For now I do public relations for indie video games, but I studied literature and psychology in college and I'm planning on an MFA sometime in the near-ish future.

There are a few pieces I have "in utero" that I'd like to eventually publish or send in as application materials or both. If I like you a lot, I might even ask you to read them during the process and tell me what still sucks. What can I say? I like it rough.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I trained as a classical ballerina for over 13 years and I try to keep up with my flexibility and pointe work as best I can. It's tough to get in the old 6 classes a week nowadays but I manage to get a barre session in at home every now and then. I really miss being in the studio, so I'm looking for reasonably-priced classes that work with a Monday-Friday 9-6 work schedule.

Maybe this is a weird thing to consider a skill, but I do pride myself on being adaptable. By that I mean I strive to find the adventure in all the little ways life can screw with a well-laid plan. The best stories never end with "..and so, everything happened exactly as it should."

Rumor has it I can also make a mean chili (it's all in the salt. Everything is in the salt. Also, red wine. Sometimes I even put it in the chili.)
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Curls. It's always the curls, unless I've slicked my hair back. Then it's something about how I resemble Trinity from The Matrix.

I cut my hair myself, so the feedback is always appreciated.

I'll read most anything, but if I absolutely had to sum up the type of literature I'm most interested in, it would be a category called "the bad things that good people do." But that's by no means a catch-all. Lately I've been digging Sheridan le Fanu, Bret Easton Ellis, Lyudmila Petrushevskaya, Haruki Murakami, Ramsey Campbell, Christopher Moore, Gillian Flynn (still reading Gone Girl, so no spoilers!) Vladimir Nabokov, H. P. Lovecraft, and Mary Gaitskill.

When I want to put something on that I know I'll enjoy, I'll watch Quentin Tarantino, Chan-Wook Park, Takeshi Miike, Alfred Hitchcock, David Lynch, Kim Jee-Woon, David Fincher and Christopher Nolan pre-TDKR.

I listen to all kinds of stuff, but some of my more recent playlists draw from David Bowie, The Raconteurs, The Beatles, Arctic Monkeys, Elliott Smith, Blockhead, Beach Boys, Lovage, Otis Redding, Santo & Johnny, Mr. Twin Sister, Frank Ocean, alt-J, Portishead, RJD2, Caribou, Gin Wigmore, The War On Drugs, Pink Floyd, St. Vincent, Spoon, The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger, Cults and Death (they're a punk band from the early 70s that didn't get a lot of recognition until really recently - check them out!)

As far as eating goes, I'm part-goat. I eat anything and I love finding food I've never tried before.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
(in no particular order)

A laptop with a word processing program
A stack of books I have yet to read.
A manageable amount of organized chaos.
Sunlight, and lots of it.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How long I can remain in the same transitional phase before it stops being transitional.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Recovering from the week's work and winding down with good food, good drinks and good conversation. Preferably all at once.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
Fuck it, why not? Nobody's getting any younger. If you are, you should probably get that checked out.

I'm very friendly once you get me talking, but still working past a bit of shyness. So if I messaged you first, I'm super duper interested.

One final note: If I can put over 500 words into this profile, you can put more than 5 words into your message.
