Okay - enough is enough. I joined this site to meet like-minded people, with the possibility of friendship, dating, and potentially more. I did not sign up for casual sex. If you are looking for a quick tumble - LOOK ELSEWHERE.
Furthermore - I am not interested in hearing from anyone who smokes, who feels the need to tell other people about their religious beliefs, or who defines their sexual preferences with a bunch of initials.
In addition - I define myself as polyamorous, using the meaning of the word to describe my objection toward monogamy. This does not mean that I am promiscuous. An aversion to a single committed relationship does not mean that I jump in bed with everyone who asks.
And now my actual profile -
Life is how you take it - and I take it on two wheels. I am into motorcycles - I ride a Moto Guzzi, travel out of state when possible to find fun roads, and teach the Motorcycle Safety Course.
At the other end of the spectrum, my other hobby is knitting. Boring? No way - I find new and interesting ways to combine yarn, needles, and space. I have knit vases and jewelry. It's not all baby booties and mittens. I also work glass, paint, and do calligraphy.
And since everyone likes making lists of their attributes - atheist, liberal, and hedonistic.
Trying to get my flowerbeds to grow more than weeds. Why don't plants do what you tell them?
My job? If I told you, you would fall asleep. It isn't my 'life' it is my job. You aren't going to sit by my desk all day, so what do you care?
Arguing. In both the positive and negative sense of the word.
The second thing people notice - I don't conform to the assumption that people make based on my appearance. I'm middle-aged, middle-classed, and mid-western. And I have done more things than any ten people you can stop on the street.
Books: 'Even Cowgirls Get the Blues', anything by Stephen King, the Janet Evanovich number series, mysteries, various non-fiction (usually memoirs - I like to hear how other people live - Augusten Burroughs is my hero).
Movies: Anything with Cary Grant, Marilyn Monroe, James Stewart, Katherine Hepburn, or George Clooney. (Yeah - I have a weakness for George. Get over that too.) While I enjoy modern films, the classics still appeal. Nothing pulls me out of a bad mood like 'Arsenic and Old Lace' or 'Harvey'. OK, if I have to name a movie made in color I would choose 'A Fish Called Wanda'.
TV: Firefly, ER, CSI, Law and Order, Sopranos, Big Love, L Word. I find most sitcoms to be moronic. My comedy tastes run to Monty Python, Rita Rudner, and Steven Wright. Deceptively simple, but layered with meaning.
Music: David Bowie, Jethro Tull, Enya, Denise LaSalle, Michael Feinstein - notice a trend? Lyrics mean more than the bass line.
What I should be doing next.
Also, know how to use the 'shift' key on your computer. I will not reply in a positive manner to any message that looks like;
