I can be a little shy at first but I acclimate quickly. I’ve twice
been called a chameleon; once as a complement the other meant as an
insult. Traveling is a priority that usually involves scuba diving
but I’m up for just about any adventure. Austin keeps me happy
between my vacations. With all the live music, food trucks, my
family, friends, and the landscape I can be as busy or relaxed as I
What I’m doing with my life
I work, live, and generally spend most of my time in north Austin.
The small company I work for as an IT consultant is my perfect fit.
Some days I feel I get paid to play, and it allows me the freedom
to get away when I want. My daily life has become fairly slow paced
and routine, driven by my work, but I have adjusted. Maybe even a
little too much. Keeping such a regular schedule and not being in
to the club scene has made meeting new people and potential
relationships more difficult.
Last year’s list of fun: Grand Cayman, Bonaroo, ACL
This year’s list of fun: SXSW, Coachella, Bonaroo in July, Bonaire
in August, and ACL in October.
Coachella was fantastic! We did a couple days in San Diego then
drove out 74 through the mountains. The view on the drive was
amazing. One of my friends really hooked us up; we had a private
campsite right by the entrance at our new Friends home. We still
had to go through security to get in to the stages but we didn’t
have to go through the long line and security to get to our
campsite when we first showed up. Unfortunately Bonaroo won’t be so
VIP. We’re back to sharing porta potties and showers with the rest
of the campers.
I’m really good at
Tech related things. Disaster recover and Virtualization consume
most of my work week.
Growing things, even though my house is plant empty at the
Scuba Diving, under water navigation
Making people feel included.
Procrastination, but everything does get finished.
The first things people usually notice about me
My smile. I've been told it involves my whole face.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I read so much at work I find it hard to do for entertainment. I do
however love audiobooks. Everything Asimov, Enders Saga, Song of
Ice and Fire, The Dark Tower(on book 4) and many others. I mostly
read sci-fi, fantasy, mystery, or non-fiction. One of my all time
favorites is The Tao of Pooh.
Too many movies to list but heres a few:
The Big Lebowski, The Matrix, Grandma's Boy, Half Baked, Real
I listen to just about everything.
I have realised decent bands can still make for great live
Mexican, Indian, Cajun, and Greek to name a few favorites.
I love spicy! Bring on the Bhut Jolokia!
The six things I could never do without
In no particular order.
Something that I can do without but have found I enjoy with all of
the above; alcohol
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Virtualization, avoiding the "Next Week on..." at the end of a
show, When is my next vacation?
What's for dinner?
More recently... someone to share my life with.
On a typical Friday night I am
I am not much for the club scene, but you can find me at happy hour
or out with family, friends and or co-workers usually. Sometimes
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I watch more TV than I like to admit.
