My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
My life is about to change. I have remained too long at a job that was supposed to be temporary, and settling for things that I needed to improve. Therefore I will be leaving my job at the beginning of June, and starting my next chapter with an adventure. It will involve more than two months away, with a cross country road trip plus some backpacking around Europe.

As for myself, what you see is what you get. My life has always been about exploration. I love learning, logic, puzzles and problem solving. I couldn’t just settle on one topic in college, so I walked away with a double major in Mathematics and Economics, and triple minors in Business, Chemistry, and Political Science. I am a fountain of trivia, with science and skepticism my forte. I read a decent amount, and am an avid user of technology, but there is nothing that can compare to the peacefulness of the exploration of nature.

I enjoy helping people, primarily through teaching. Math and Chemistry have been my topics for more than a decade, but I have some oddball ones like archery thrown into the mix as well. I am introverted (Myers-Briggs INTP), but that has never been a problem when it comes to topics I enjoy or people I know well. My discussions cover all topics, since there is nearly nothing that can offend me. While I enjoy sarcasm and my humor can be dark at times, there is a bit of a hopeless romantic deep inside.

I am an Eagle Scout, and honesty is my policy. I never hide who I am, and neither should anyone else. While I don’t know where my life will lead, am I looking for someone to share in the journey. Someone who enjoys adventure and exploration, deep and meaningful conversations, nights in with intellectual stimulation and the occasional spontaneous whatever. I am not looking to be someone’s life, but rather to share in someone’s life, maybe yours?
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Changing it.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Recalling completely useless science facts
Solving puzzles
Seeing alternative viewpoints
Playing devil’s advocate
Figuring out how things work
Remembering answers to questions hours after the fact
Growing facial hair
Doing calculus in my head
Failing to remember people’s names
Fixing computers
Being absent-minded
Making non-sequitur comments
Giving people advice while forgetting to take it for myself
Debating whether or not I am being indecisive
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Right now, that would be my beard, but it comes and goes.

I have also been told by my students that their initial impressions of me are of the passion that I have towards the subjects that I teach.

Here is a sampling of some of my favorites, in no particular order:

Authors: I am a huge fan of science fiction, especially anything involving time travel/alternate realities. Orson Scott Card (Pastwatch, Ender's Game), Isaac Asimov, James P. Hogan (Voyage from Yesteryear, Cradle of Saturn), S. M. Stirling.

Movies: Matrix, Star Wars (original trilogy), Office Space, Ocean's 11, Super Troopers, Stranger Than Fiction, The Big Lebowski, The Boondock Saints, The Usual Suspects, Good Will Hunting, The Truman Show, Fight Club, American Beauty, Dogma, The Neverending Story, Stardust, The Fifth Element, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Accepted, Groundhog Day, Almost Famous, The Princess Bride.

TV Shows: Breaking Bad, Dexter, Continuum, Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, Grimm, Person of Interest, Shameless, The Big Bang Theory, The Walking Dead, Numb3rs, Mythbusters, Penn & Teller's Bullshit, Dead Like Me, Early Edition.

Podcasts: The Skeptic's Guide to the Universe, Freakonomics Radio, Savage Lovecast.

Music: A little bit of everything, but you can't go wrong with the classics: Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, etc.

Food: I can be picky at times, but I will try just about anything. Sushi, pizza, Tex Mex and pasta are always great. I also have an extremely bad sweet tooth.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
In no particular order: internet, carbs, intellectual conversation, reading material, exploration, my brain, sarcasm.

(I realize this is seven. I am either an overachiever or never liked following directions. Take your pick.)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
My brain is rather ADD so just about anything is fair game. Science topics are fairly common, and I spend way more time on politics than I should. I tend to do some of my best thinking while driving or while in the shower. Lately, trip planning has been the topic of choice.

Also, I am always wondering why my brain has the ability to more easily recall information the more useless and irrelevant it is.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
In or out. Good times are not just limited to Fridays.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My senior class in high school voted me "Most likely to start and run a successful evil empire"

I also have an irrational addiction to romantic comedies.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
If you know who you are and where you are going in life, and feel that we may connect on some level. Or if you have nothing figured out and want to join me on the journey of exploration. I am always looking for friends, and something more if it is in the cards.

I would say to not be shy, but that is not an option for some. Above all I want you to be yourself, and let me know who that is.
