My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm an indoors-y, straight-edged fellow who tries to stay active to avoid being a couch potato. Prefer driving over flying, singing over dancing, spirits over beer, and puzzle games over first person shooters. Currently into swimming and hiking, but definitely a video games guy at heart.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a Music Educator! Growing up, Music was such a staple in my daily school routine; it anchored my day and gave me something to focus on when things elsewhere weren't entirely stable. Now I'm aiming to provide that same safe, fun environment to a new generation of students. Currently I'm working at the Elementary School level, though ultimately I'd like to get back into the Middle School side of things.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm really good at finding the light side of things. I have a hard time watching serious movies because I always crack little jokes here and there. When I'm with other people, I very rarely have a bad time.
The first things people usually notice about me

I'm pretty easy to talk to.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

When I'm reading someone else's profile, if I get to the Favorite Books/Movies/Shows section, and it's just a list of 20+ titles for each category, my eyes glaze over and I move on. "Favorite" means "one or two," in my mind. :)

Books: I was introduced to The Dresden Files over the summer, and I tore through all fifteen books (most recently read Skin Game). Also been looking into starting Discworld stuff. I will be reading Small Gods soon.

TV Shows: I honestly don't watch a lot of television. I haven't actively followed a TV show since I was a teenager.

Music: Because I'm a Music Educator, I listen to anything and everything. Because I work with Elementary-age kids, I tend to avoid stuff with explicit lyrics, but I will give anything a shot. Usually I gravitate towards electro-swing, jazz, and/or classical. Check out Caravan Palace - Clash if you haven't heard it before! :)

Food: Not picky at all--I don't have any dietary restrictions, though I do try to be health-conscious when I choose off the menu. I favor sandwiches/burgers over noodles, and chewy things over soupy things. A good BLT and a chocolate malt will make me smile.

Video Games: From the hectic Nintendo offerings of New Super Mario Bros., Mario Kart, or Smash Bros. to the PS3 offerings Little Big Planet, Disgaea, or PixelJunk: Monsters, to the PC/Steam titles Diablo III, Sanctum 2, Team Fortress 2, or Terraria, I usually gravitate towards games that are colorful and youthful, have a stylized art style, or let you customize the appearance of your characters and environment.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Electricity, Fans, Music, Imagination, Water, and Laughter.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I spend a lot of time thinking about silly things. Rhyming words and coming up with little poems/raps, sometimes using alliteration or a patterned use of letters. Making up arbitrary rules to govern a series of actions (the floor is lava!) and the possible ridiculous consequences of them affecting the world at large. :)
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Relaxing after a week in the classroom with a mixed drink and easy conversation with friends. Occasionally some sort of light physical activity (walking/wandering) followed by winding down with a movie, computer/video game, or browsing forums online.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I am phobic of three-dimensional environments in video games. If the camera clips too close to a wall or the surface of water, such that you get a glimpse of "the void" on the other side, I become incredibly anxious. My friends make no end of fun of me for this. It's a completely irrational fear. :)
