My self-summary
Artist....illustrator, I guess. The "artist" part may refer to the stuff I do when the illustration jobs dry up. I do a lot of children's books but mostly they are of the mundane kind.

If you go to the dentist and get a comic on how to brush your teeth...yeah that's me.

I like to travel. I like cities. I like civilizations in ruins. I like Youth Hostel shoe string travel...I have done good deal of Europe (I have probably spent the most time in Iceland and London but have gone as far east as Prague) and have a thing for Mayan and Incan ruin sites and have probably stood on more ruined Pyramids than I have visited Cathedrals. I want to see Australia and South East Asia (always next year next year)

I love vintage design and the term Raygun Gothic to describe my interior design style. Radios, cameras...typewriters. Mid-century debris.

Left wing Scandinavian style socialist. Sadly well read and yet a still somewhat independent slacker with very strong work ethic.

I drink pots of tea.

I guess I exist in the cultural art strata of Baltimore with the musicians and writers.

My semi -feral cat treats me like prey after sunset.
What I’m doing with my life
I have a mild goal of self-sufficiency as an artist. Not 'getting by' or coupled with another job...just pure financial independence as an artist. I am just over half way there and its a struggle not to chuck it all and take up a 9 to 5 based on my art/tech skill set (been there done that...and would do again if I had to but I don't have to).

I do have benchmarks . I think when I hit enough of them that I can conclude I know what i am doing I may want to teach. One of my post college peeves was teachers who never tried in the real world or were terrible at the thing they were teaching.
I’m really good at
Fixing things. I bought and restored my own little Charles Village Victorian row house.

So...yeah...I think I can tinker almost any object into some semblance of function.
The first things people usually notice about me
That either I am shy and quiet or talking a mile a minute while telling stories...I do look for more a combination of the two extremes but it's rough.

...or my glasses. I wear glasses.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Recently?...Survival as an artist. I do okay I suppose but shouldn't I be doing better? Eats at me.

SVA in New York had these posters back in the 80s with the tag line: "To be good is not enough when you dream of being great "

...I hate them so.
On a typical Friday night I am
Being square which is probably the reason I am on this site.

I am trying to fix that.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am an open book....but chapter 4 is missing 4 pages. Why? Who would take them...it's a mystery! The game's afoot!

You like to wander by mistake.

You are nerdy, geeky but adorable like a manic pixie girl in a meet cute scene.

Seriously. I am attracted to cute arty pixie haired girls with big brains and some sort of geek nerd cred.

Like the outdoors? Hikes? Urban and foreign exploration? Talk about anime and descend into Neil Gaiman/Alan Moore rants? Like ghosting around museums on cold winter days? Can spend an afternoon reading quietly while sipping tea and not feel it's a day wasted?

Can you travel cheap and light?
