My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm Matt. If you've ever googled the weather conditions at a national park, I'm pretty sure we'd get along.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Med school in Hyde Park. I expect I'll become a doctor just in time to practice at the nursing home where I'll be living. In the meantime, I ghostwrite op-eds to keep the hummus shelf full.

Before switching directions, I worked as an editor at a newspaper here in Chicago. And before journalism, I wrote advertising. And before advertising, I taught English in a fishing village in Japan.

Rest assured I'm more decisive when it comes to relationships.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Introducing friends to other friends.

Making puns and then pretending I didn't mean to make the puns.

Staying in touch.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
That I'm patiently walking a sweet doddering old lady across the street even though I'm like totally in a hurry and going in the exact opposite direction and deathly allergic to both of her mink coats.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

TV: Big Shrimpin' and any other TV that uses English subtitles on native English speakers.

Music: The Hold Steady, Built to Spill, Wilco, Nina Simone, The Smashing Pumpkins, Game, John Murry. And Lucinda Williams. Gosh I like Lucinda Williams. Also, I've played piano since I was a kid so I'm a big fan of Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Debussy and several other dead white European men.

Books: Joan Didion, George Saunders, John Cheever, Katherine Anne Porter, Tobias Wolff, Ray Carver, Alice Munro, V.S. Naipaul, Andre Dubus.

Food: I consider most food a canvas for El Tapatio. Also, I'm a pescatarian. If you know of a less obnoxious word than "pescatarian", please advise.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
— My ma and pa.
— Piano
— Basketball shoes
— The Buffalo Bills
— NYT crossword
— friends I've known since I was in diapers. (I do not currently wear diapers; this is not negotiable.)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Thinking a little less.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Biting my lower lip on a dance floor.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I've never seen any of the Back to the Future movies, and I think it might be too late now.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You're empathetic, self-assured, and can deal with an irredeemably slow walker.
