My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.

Well, let's see, about me... I'm generally a shy person until you get to know me, but once you do I am very warm, sweet, and affectionate. On the other hand, my sense of humor tends to be very dry and sarcastic (think Hugh Laurie's character in House). So I suppose I'm mostly sweet and compassionate with a streak of cynicism.

I love being outside. My favorite place in the whole world is the beach. Any beach, but if I have choice, my favorite so far is Clam Beach outside of McKinelyville. It's a largely deserted (though not entirely) stretch of sand where you can walk for miles. I could easily spend all day out there hunting for shells, walking through the surf, looking through whatever cool creatures have washed up on shore, and watching the seals at the mouth of the Mad River (yes, I walk that far. I like to walk!).

I really enjoy hiking, especially on the coast or in the mountains. I'm not big on real mountain climbing though, and the only mountain I've ever climbed (it's just a moderate hike, really) was Lassen.

I love to go fishing. Please note that enjoying it does not necessarily mean I'm good at it. Sadly, I'm not.

I love animals, and they like me, too. I'm not the kind of girl who runs screaming from a lizard or snake, or most bugs. I'm the one who gets summoned to remove them from the office when they get inside. If it's a spider though, nope, I'm out.

One of my passions is music... particularly opera and Baroque. My degree is in music, and I'm a classically trained singer. I also have an eclectic collection of instruments from all over the world that I love to play around with, although I'm only decently skilled at one.

I like to cuddle up in bed with a good book and some tea on a rainy day, or maybe take a hot bath with a book and a glass of red wine. I'm mostly a pinot noir girl.

If you're interested in the MBTI/Keirsey-Bates test, I'm an INFJ.

I'm a romantic, loving, and affectionate person, and my ideal match will be, too.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Working and studying for the GRE. My social life is a bit limited at the moment because I just recently moved here from Redding.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Singing and writing. Maybe not so much dating profiles, though.

A Song of Ice and Fire (books, I haven't seen Game of Thrones yet) is a fantastic series. I love poetry, especially the Transcendentalists, even though my favorite poem is probably The Raven. My favorite authors are Thoreau, Frost, Poe, Conan Doyle, and my favorite of all, Jack London. I just got to visit Jack London State Park. It was wonderful!

Food - I love Mexican, Italian, American, and sometimes Chinese. Yes I can use chopsticks. My students are Chinese, and they will mock me without mercy if they catch me eating rice or noodles with a fork. In China though, I've sampled some authentic Chinese food and... well... it was a little scary sometimes. Some of it was absolutely amazing. If you've never had hot pot or soup dumplings you should try them. Honestly though, I like food. I like to try new food. And then I have to work out because I don't want to end up huge.

Movies - I like comedy, action, and scary stuff that isn't horribly gory. I like a good scare, not a gag-me blood bath. I think the best Christmas movies are Home Alone 1 and 2, and Die Hard. If I'm down and I need a pick me up, I'll probably watch Hot Fuzz.

I haven't watched TV in awhile. My antenna is broken, and fixing it isn't a priority because everything is in hiatus right now and I have plenty of books.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Ice. It may seem like a small thing until you're stuck on an extended stay in a country where you can not get ice and it's really hot out. I like really cold drinks and that was a major adjustment.

A good pair of walking shoes
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Grad school, what I'd like to do in the future, when my favorite authors are going to release another book... I can get a little scatterbrained on occasion. Squirrel!
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Walking, reading, maybe watching Netflix.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have a scar on the back of my right shoulder that embarrasses me just a little.
