My self-summary

I never know what to write here that doesn't sound like every other profile on this site. Anyway. I am sweet, I am lovable, and sometimes I am way too gullible. I am warm and cuddly. I have a BA and I used to travel to China periodically for work. I would love to learn to fly a plane, I love to sing, and I love to try new things. My favorite place in the world is the ocean. I love to read.

When I say I speak a language poorly it usually means that I understand most of it, but have no idea how to answer back because I haven't used it in so long. And Chinese isn't the most accurate language choice anyway, it's Mandarin. I do like languages though. They're fun.

If you're interested in the MBTI/Keirsey-Bates test, I'm an INFJ.

I'm a romantic and affectionate person, and my ideal match will be, too.
What I’m doing with my life
Working, and moving. I start a new job in Sacramento on July 1st. I hate moving, but Redding is waaaay too long a commute, lol.
I’m really good at
Singing and writing. I'm also apparently good at walking fast and far, but not so much running. I've even managed to wear out my marathoner sister while walking together!
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes change color, so that's cool, right? In all honesty though, it's probably that I'm short.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
A Song of Ice and Fire (books, I haven't seen Game of Thrones yet) is a fantastic series. I love poetry, especially the Transcendentalists, even though my favorite poem is probably The Raven. My favorite authors are Thoreau, Frost, Poe, Conan Doyle, and my favorite of all, Jack London. I just got to visit Jack London State Park. It was wonderful!

Food - I love Mexican, Italian, American, and sometimes Chinese. Yes I can use chopsticks. My students are Chinese, and they will mock me without mercy if they catch me eating rice or noodles with a fork. In China though, I've sampled some authentic Chinese food and... well... it was a little scary sometimes. Some of it was absolutely amazing. If you've never had hot pot or soup dumplings you should try them. Honestly though, I like food. I like to try new food. And then I have to work out because I don't want to end up huge.

Movies - I like Action, Comedy, and scary stuff that isn't horribly gory. I like a good scare, not a gag-me blood bath. Besides, that gives me a chance to cuddle to with a special someone so I don't feel so scared. ;)

Shows - so many... I like The Amazing Race, Grimm, The West Wing, Modern Family, the new Battlestar Galactica, and Star Trek. (TOS, TNG, and Voyager. I haven't seen DS9 yet.) Recently I started watching Once Upon A Time, which I don't even like, but for reasons I do not understand, I just can't stop watching. I haven't finished the last few episodes of TWD yet. I watch Colbert and the Daily Show religiously because I love having a guaranteed laugh at the end of the day.
The six things I could never do without
Animals! Ok seriously, I am NOT the eharmony cat lady. I do not want all the cats in a basket on a rainbow. I'm actually allergic to cats. I do like cats, and I can't remember a time in my life (other than college dorms) when I didn't have a cat, dog, or both... but the "I love cats; I love every kind of cat; I just want to hug all of them but I can't pick up every cat..." too far, lady. Too far. And my god, the sneezing that would ensue! (Full disclosure - I like the song. It's hilarious.)

Ice. It may seem like a small thing until you're stuck on an extended stay in a country where you can not get ice and it's really hot out. I like really cold drinks and that was a major adjustment.

Things I couldn't do without... I don't know, internet? I like knowing what is going on in the world. I also have an unhealthy attachment to reddit.

I like roller coasters and amusement parks. I was told not to include "Disneyland" on my list of things I like, but I'm going to be honest. California Screamin' is a pretty awesome coaster and I DO like Disneyland. I don't always like how much money I end up spending ($20 for a weak mai tai? Seriously?) but it's a fun place. I will admit that I definitely have a childlike side.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Dreams. Not the ones I have at night, the ones I have for the future. Grad school, getting better at what I do for work, when Laurie R. King is going to release another Mary Russell book... lots of things. I can get a little scatterbrained on occasion. Squirrel!
On a typical Friday night I am
Reading, doing lesson prep, walking before the sun goes down, swimming at Whiskeytown if it's warm enough, or driving as fast as I safely can out to Trinidad/Arcata/Eureka/McKinelyville because I love it out there. I think Clam Beach is my "Being here fixes anything" happy place. That or wandering through the Galleria in Roseville window shopping - meaning looking at pretty things and not buying them because I am capable of being responsible even when something sparkly is calling my name. Looking is still fun!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a scar on the back of my right shoulder that embarrasses me just a little.
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 26–46
  • Near me
  • Who are single

You should message me if
You're not looking for a one night stand, nudes, and you don't have white pride tattoos. Don't message me pictures of your private parts. Seriously. Do not like.
