My Self-Summary

Finally updating this... kinda.

I crave perspective. I'm an incredibly social person and I feel there's so much to learn from other people. With that said, most people bore me with their stupidity and others disappoint me with their apathy. Awareness, class and intelligence are incredibly attractive traits, probably because of their scarcity in today's population. We seem to have a culture that rewards ignorance. Message me if this pisses you off as much as it does me. We'd probably get along.

I'm social to a fault - like worse than a puppy on uppers, and usually it's pretty goddamn contagious. I was born with a susceptibility to caffeine and I'm giddy as it is. I hide my hatred under a veil of sanguinity.

After talking with some people on this site, I've come to the conclusion that most of the girls on here get their inboxes filled with sex proposals, pictures of peni (pl. for penis?), and general 'aY BaybAy WuZ uP wit U' moronic cyber-come-ons. Guys get creepy poetry and incredibly shy/self-aware attempts at conversation. Which is worse?

What I’m doing with my life

Resigned from my first 'real' full-time job as a marketing director for a decent company with a really shitty owner. Apparently integrity is the first thing they ask for when you enter the corporate world.
Moving up doing logistics for an executive transportation company. Just took two months off to try and figure out what I want to do about grad school - psych or business... tough call

I’m really good at

Perspective. Understanding. I am overly empathic, and I feel it's a very useful trait when it comes to dealing with people. I rarely get angry at people because honestly, situational factors are responsible for most behavior. I consider perspective to be the most important factor missing in most conflict. Open forum is amazing - thank you internet

The first things people usually notice about me

My socially debilitating peg-leg (people are actually taking this seriously... I don't have a peg-leg)

My hair! It's usually pretty loud
[update - it's short now :( but I like it, and people like it, it's just weird to feel the breeze on my neck...]

I'm also very loud when drinking. Thank god I don't have neighbors anymore.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books - To Kill a Mockingbird, Palahnuik, Wilde, Sedaris, Alan Moore, Vonnegut, Blankets by Craig Thompson, Peace Like a River by Leif Enger (read that one - it's TKAM part 2... he's Harper Lee 2.0)

Movies - Bolt! Dancer in the Dark, A Scanner Darkly, Waking Life, Mirrormask, Memento, anything with meaning, anything with a message... but also a handful of fun movies ranging from Luc Besson to Apatow.

Actors whose movies I'll watch - no matter what: Gary Oldman, Ed Norton, Kevin Spacey, Cate Blanchett, Dustin Hoffman,

Music - Live Jazz! (ask me about the Balcony Club in Dallas - it's a blast) Massive Attack, Portishead, Sneakerpimps, Maroon 5, Cake, Tori Amos, Sarah Mclachlan, Lamb, DJ Krush, Amon Tobin, Damien Rice, I love classical, especially when I'm working on a project

Food - Mexican, Italian, and Sushi!

The six things I could never do without

Friends - Family - Phone - Sushi - Drink Specials - Crayons

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The vast decline in our nation's literacy rate, as revealed by online messaging and other text-based communication media

People should have to pass a test to have kids, and American sex education is the leading cause of teen pregnancy. Period.

Why we continue to breed domestic animals by the boatload when there are thousands of shelters around the country filled with loving animals that need a home. Fuck people. The Earth would be better off without us.

Where I'll be in 20 years... whether the human race will be around in 50

Why the cashiers in the express checkout lane always seem to be the slowest ones...

Why they make tube tops in XXXL

On a typical Friday night I am

I never know

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

When most people talk, I smile and nod while desperately surveying my surroundings for the quickest way to kill myself. Please don't bother me if you can't hold an intelligent conversation.

And I don't really know Sanskrit...

You should message me if

You wear hats. Hats are hot. So is short hair (If you look anything like Julia Roberts in hook I will probably have to reconcile my differences with actually dating people off this site...) If you're confident. If you have your shit together (self-reliance is hot). If you're in Mensa. If you're a Psychology graduate who actually knows what you're talking about. If you're cultured If you're an Adult. If you enjoy introspection and perspective taking.

I'm honestly not on here to date anyone. I think the non-crazy people on here are pretty cool, and it's always fun to talk to new people. Anyway, I think the best relationships start after people know each other fairly well - that way no expectations are projected onto the other person. We all know what it's like to ignore incompatibilities when you've got those rose-colored shades on. So yeah.
